This place is great. We came in from out of town unprepared with reservations but they were able to find space for us. The service was superb and friendly and the food was so good! Everything fresh, creative flavors and beautifully presented. Three of us are three courses and didn't break the bank. Highly recommend.

Excellent little spot for Mediterranean style food.  Simple but tasty dishes.  The place has a New York style vibe and you feel the rumble from the subway since it's sitting right on top of Bay Street station.  One item that was a little odd was the lack of a normal bar the only alcoholic drinks you can order are on the menu. So no common cocktails (gin and tonic etc) unless it's on the drink menu.

To give this place anything but 5 stars to me is bizarre. This is a tiny perfect gem beside a subway in downtown Toronto. Walk in and be greeted by a friendly face, sit at a perfectly appointed table and then get ready to eat. I often just eat the menu. The plates are not overly large and I find fun to share. Then again, I like to share so I can try a morsel of each dish. Do not save your calories and not try the fresh made sour dough and hand churned butter. The menu constantly changes so recommending dishes would be silly. So sit back, enjoy your stay and just simply eat.
The dishes below are a slightly thicker cut beef carpaccio with charred radicchio, a raviolo filled with rich cheeses and garnished with a medley of mushrooms and peas, Ling cod in a sublime beurre blanc and a rhubarb pavlova.

We had a really lovely weekend lunch at Brothers (on reservation). It had been on my list for quite awhile (by virtue of it being a favourite of the entire “Suits” cast), and I wish we had gone much earlier; but, I am certainly glad we finally made it there. It’s now on my favourites list. I definitely want to try dinner. Our server said the menu shifts with produce and seasonality, and even between lunch and dinner the menu may differ.

It’s a long, narrow space with lots of seats at the bar, and a couple of tables at the back (more mood lighting). They added a couple of cute pastel pops of colour like with a pink espresso machine. There is a wall of coat hooks available to hang bags and such. We sat at the little nook at the front; it had lots of natural light, and it was interesting to watch all the hustle and bustle by Bay and Bloor. You could hear the rumble of the subway below but it added to the atmosphere. They had some soft music playing in the back, and it felt so relaxed.

The food was homey, so well cooked and perfectly seasoned - good portions. We ordered the bone marrow cavatelli, the rabbit pie, and the eggplant. I loved the addition of the contrasting sweet raisins and salty capers to the eggplant. It was really interesting. The cavatelli was just so rich, flavourful and addictive. I don’t like rabbit, but the pie was a perfect peppery. We ended with a sponge cake, which was so good with the creme fraiche.

Our server was really nice - attentive with water, and cutlery. The food came fairly quickly, and it was just such a great meal. Once again, cannot wait to go back.

Food is very good.. but from our visit, nothing really ”wow”-ed me. We got the lamb, carpaccio, crab special of the night and cavatelli. The menu changes daily and I’ve seen other menus that looked more interesting. So maybe it just depends on your visit. While it is slightly expensive (it is Yorkville after all), the portions are actually big.. so between 2 people, 3-4 dishes to share is more than enough. Service is friendly - I get the impression that they have quite a bit of regulars who dine. The space is tight, but somehow it works! Best seats are probably the ones facing the window or the corner bar seats.
