We recently visited George Restaurant in Toronto and opted for the 7-course tasting menu. While the overall experience was enjoyable, it didn’t quite reach the heights we were hoping for. The ambiance was elegant and intimate, perfect for a special evening out, and the service was attentive and professional throughout the night.
The presentation of each dish was stunning, showcasing the chef’s artistry and attention to detail. The menu featured seasonal ingredients, which we appreciated, and there were moments of brilliance in some of the courses. However, not every dish stood out, and there were a few that felt more ordinary than exceptional.
That said, George is undeniably a beautiful restaurant with a lot to offer. If you’re looking for a refined dining experience in Toronto with creative plating and a cozy atmosphere, it’s worth a visit. While the 7-course tasting menu didn’t completely wow us this time, we’d still recommend giving it a try—especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion.

Three of us went for dinner: one had a vegetarian tasting menu, the second a pescatarian tasting menu, and the third the normal meat based tasting menu. What a great flexible offering. The food was varied and delicious, the wine pairings were generous, the service friendly and attentive. The dining room is large so our table was not cramped. We had a view of the very busy open kitchen and could admire the teamwork. Highly recommended but a bit pricey

Came here for the double-blind tasting menu and it was worth every penny. You and your partner will get different dishes (but still related to the same theme) so you can share and swap items.

We got the 5-course menu and every dish felt like a main course. There was a generous portion of food on each plate so come with a healthy appetite.

In terms of flavours, everything was good but I wasn't wowed by anything. I feel like the portion size was a double-edged sword in that I got full so quickly and the experience didn't feel as satisfying as it could have been.

I wish some of the dishes could have been lighter instead of being so heavy with the dark meats and sauces. Some fish or soup dishes would have added more variety and made the meal more balanced.

That said, none of it was bad and if you have a good appetite you'll be very pleased here.

This restaurant is an absolute must-try—I had an amazing meal with my friend. Although it’s only Michelin-recommended rather than starred, you can still feel the weight of the Michelin name in the quality of the food. The restaurant is relatively small, and while the layout is a bit tight and the space slightly noisy, it’s understandable given the size. The service was excellent—our server was warm and attentive, patiently answering several questions about the dishes. One of the most distinctive features of the space is its open kitchen, where you can watch the head chef and the team working tirelessly.

I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant. The chef’s philosophy seems to focus on amplifying the natural flavors of each ingredient (such as emphasizing the acidity of tomatoes) while achieving a delicate balance through thoughtful ingredient pairings (like cheese and jus). The result is a dining experience filled with unexpected yet delightful flavor combinations in each dish.

However, the restaurant’s ambiance is not ideal for conversation, so I would recommend it more to diners who want to fully immerse themselves in the culinary experience rather than those looking for a romantic or social setting.

Enjoyed a Winterlicious experience at George.  Although each dish was beautifully plated and each ingredient deliciously presented, it didn't all taste as expected.  The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection, but the accompanying sauces and sides did not blend well in taste together. However, the desserts were scrumptious which gave a tasty finish to the meal.

George has a beautiful ambience with a view of the busy kitchen.  Service was impeccable and our server was kind, attentive and friendly.  Great place for special occasions or celebrations.

Overall, a lovely experience.
