We arrived in an Uber right to the parking lot at the Chocolate Hotel Suites after staying several nights at another hotel that was located far from the city center. The Chocolate Hotel Suites is situated on the hillside above the city center and afforded us a spectacular view of Guanajuato.

We were greeted warmly and offered a juggernaut of chock mezcal. Yum!

We were given a spacious, very clean, and comfortable suite. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant (located one flight of stairs down from the parking lot). We were pleased with the menu and the meals we both selected.

The staff was very courteous and helpful to arrange a city tour that picked us up (and for a small extra charge) returned us to the hotel even though my ability to communicate in Spanish is challenging. Several staff member were somewhat conversant in English.

The hotel hugs the mountain and is spread across several floors. Our room was on the same floor as the front desk, which is up one staircase from the parking lot. I think if stairs are a problem, travelers should go to another city in Mexico, because we had to traverse many stairways and hills everywhere we went in Guanajuato.

We would stay here again and remember the Chocolate Hotel Suites as a lovely spot for a comfortable visit.

One of the worst hotels we know, Old, smells, uncomfortable bed,  expensive, a lot to list. The service is definitely bad,the girls are rude. You need to walk hundreds of steps to get to the room, no parking, they have the option to park somewhere else but charge you for it. Only good thing is the view. Very bad experience, avoid if you can.

The worst front desk service. They do not care about their customers.
They say parking is included, it’s not.
The shuttle they provide is never available, if you arrive 2 minutes late, they will leave you.
The lady with “blond” hair does not care, she basically told us, it’s not her problem.
To ge to the hotel, you have to walk a few steep flight of stairs.
We didn’t mind this but they should at least make you aware before booking.
The bathroom had a weird musky smell.

My parents and I were considering on cancelling our reservation upon our arrival because of the amount of stairs to get to this hotel. We decided to stay as soon as we saw the beautiful view from the balcony, nothing beats the view from this hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. Our room had the beautiful view of the city of Guanajuato. We enjoyed the sound of the city throughout the night, which truly makes it unforgettable. The staff is friendly and accomadating to your needs. We enjoyed our stay and definitely plan to return on our next trip to Guanajuato.

Rooms are acceptable  The views are what you come for here though. Amazing overlook from the outdoor patio. Great place to relax at night or have breakfast in the morning. Quite the hike up the steps to get to the hotel, but it rewards you with a Stunning view of the city below.
