Overall, a decent experience since I was able to sleep without noise and take shower during 4 nights. But the service was not acceptable.

Room: While functional, the room had serious issues. There were cockroaches, I suffered mosquito bites every night, and the first-floor window couldn’t be locked. To make matters worse, the window was easily accessible due to a pole and a tree brushing against it, creating a significant security risk. However, the decoration of the lobby was remarkable, with beautiful frames and a waterfall that added a touch of elegance to the space.

Service: When I reported that there were cockroaches in my room to the receptionist CARLA, she was lounging on the lobby's couch with her feet up, scrolling through her phone like she was a customer and not a staff member. Her attitude was shockingly unprofessional, showing complete indifference and negligence. She made no effort to address the problem and instead told me to speak to her boss.

Location: Excellent, close to everything, yet quiet enough to rest.

Incredibly noisy, windows not soundproof and you can hear all the constant noise from the busy street till very late at night and extremely early in the morning

Not as nice as the design and paintings make it seem. Honestly, it was the most disappointing hotel stay I've had in years.

Most notably, there is massive construction on the building, which commences at 8am, if you plan to sleep in during your stay, this will be a big problem. Explains their discounted room rates, and while Soho Playa argues that this is out of their control, it is still misleading customers by not disclosing this information, which may change someones booking preference.

Beware of your balcony doors as well. Room 102 does not close, for example. The lock function is very  unconventional, instead of heaving door locks below the door handle, this hotel took these locks out and instead requires you to thread a little metal pin through a hole in the middle where both door ends should meet. Alas, it didn't work for me, so you may sleep with open balcony doors.

The rooms in general are not as modern and your shower may be rusty, your frisge may be loud or not working, and there may be dirt across the rooms. The only great thing about the room was the bed.

Additionally, the service was underwhelming. While one front desk receptionist during my stay was great, I dealt with two that were unfriendly and seemed overworked and frankly annoyed with guest concerns.

Fuether sidenote - The hotel only provides two bathing towels for two guests, no face wash towels. If you want additional towels, they are very strict about you returning your used towels first. Seems a bit odd for an upscale hotel, but I understand that there may be reasons for the policy. Just be aware.

We had to stay here in an emergency situation and although we were grateful to have a roof over our heads, I would not recommend this place. The evening staff were obviously very miserable,
but the morning staff was very empathetic to our situation.
So,  unless you enjoy loud music, motorcycles zooming by at all hours, construction noises until the wee hours and starting at the crack of dawn, then have fun!  And not to mention the very small fridge, roaches, dirty walls, mold in the shower, behind the sink and on the walls. Nope, never again.

We stayed at Soho Playa for 5 nights and we were super comfortable. The rooms are big, have everything you need, a fridge, AC, big bathrooms, a little terrace, and they go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. I had some requests and they not only provided what I needed but exceeded my expectations.  I read many reviews and people were complaining about the breakfast and i do not undertand, it is better than nothing, you get coffe and bread take it or leave it, it is included, at least it is something. Also it is very convenient that they are next to a juice/salad/poke bowl place, we ate there a few times. The location was really good, they came to clean once every two days which was good enough for us. I really wanted to thank Gabriela becuase she went above and beyond when i had a request, she helped us out so much during out stay. The only thing i would say they could improve is the common terrace in the pool area, it looks like it needs more maintenance, but it works for the purpose of using the pool to relax for a bit.
