We came here a few years ago, and it was amazing. Something changed… they took our favorite appetizer off of the menu, which was the hummus dip with pita. It was their top appetizer, so I’m surprised they took it off. The pizza was okay. I don’t know what is different. Maybe the toppings? How long they baked it? The cheese? I dunno 🤷🏼‍♀️, but it was just lacking in some way. My moms pasta had an odd flavor to it… it reminded me of the Chef Boyardee ravioli. The restaurant was also pretty dirty. The tables, chairs, and floors need to be deep cleaned and wiped down after every customer (in my opinion). Our waitress was nice… but I really just got the vibe that she didn’t want to be there. She didn’t make us NOT want to be there, and she was pleasant, but just an observation. Overall, a bit disappointed since we had such an amazing experience the first time.

From other reviews it sounds like this place has very authentic italian pizza. I really don't know if that true or not but it did seem authentic. However, my taste buds are very Americanized and I'd probably prefer a pizza from Pizza Hut just to be honest. Again but bad just different. The main reason I took a star away was due to the water. I know most places probably give you tap water, but it was very apparent at this place.

Pomo Pizzeria Review

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food 4 ½ - 5 Stars.  All my reviews are unsolicited and unsponsored. Read full review below:

Pomo Pizzeria in the Heritage District of downtown Gilbert.  It’s been open for a few years now, but this is the first opportunity I've had to get a seat. I tend to avoid waits. On a Tuesday at 4pm.  Only 4 people in the place and a great time to go.  Why...well, no long extended wait and very inexpensive tapas/antipasti and drinks. In other words Aperitivo (Happy Hour).   Not sure if it’s a secret, but Mon-Fri 3-6 is the best time to go if you are like me and hate crowds. No crowd, food that won’t break the bank and the place all to yourself - with  3 screens to watch your sports. Specials listed on their website.  I took my daughter and asked our server about the specials and stated that  - it was a "bar area" special, but she did not hesitate to accommodate us,  while we sat at our table. I’m not sure if this is standard all the time, but without issue - gave us the specials.  So... 5 stars for service!!!  Pizza is cooked via 900 degree wood fired oven ( pix attached) - I chose the Napoli - tomato sauce, mozzarella, anchovy fillets, sicilian oregano, basil, evoo - delicious: 4 ½ stars -I like my pies a little crispier. So the rating is a reflection of my taste. I will ask for a longer cook time next time. Three apps - Panzerotti - small fried calzones with spicy salami, ricotta, tom sauce and basil. Salumi board - mixture of meat, cheese, olives and bread. Calamari - no explanation need. I could scale them - but more importantly - would I order them again? ... and the answer is yes, without hesitation.  I got 2 bites of calamari and when I went for a third it was all gone.  My daughter, who is usually the 2 bites princess, miraculously finished the rest  and a decent portions to start with. All the apps are good for 2 people. Modern loft/industrial stylized venue with open views and patio seating.  Tables are not crowded together  - so room to stretch your arms, food is great and the friendly staff is the icing.  Price index is $$$ out of 5. Buon Appetito . I’ll be back.

Not a bad Italian place. Made the mistake of going on a Saturday night. The place was mobbed. The Rice Balls were good and I the sauce was very tasty. The Tagaletelli Bolognese was good but could have a bit more spice to it. The Lasagna was better. Because the place was so busy, part of our order never came out.  Disappointing but it happens....

Pomo has a great vibe and is a perfect fit in downtown Gilbert. I love to sit on the outside of the bar for great people watching. Pretty straightforward menu starring mostly pizza with some salads and a handful of pasta dishes.

They have two different styles of pizza, a classic Neapolitan style and 'rimini,' a very thin crust style. Both are wood fired and get that perfect bit of charring throughout. Yum! I am a huge fan of their pizza sauce; it's light and flavorful. Really all the individual components on the pizzas complement each other perfectly, you can't go wrong.

My go-to is a glass of the house red blend, one of the salads (I love the chopped, but ask for extra dressing on the side. It's a vinaigrette and they are VERY sparing with it), and the Peppino pizza, a spicy pepperoni with fresh basil and ricotta. Portions are just right for sharing, you'll leave satisfied but not full.
