Absolutely loved the aesthetic and ambience of the restaurant. Sadly was pretty disappointed by the food. My husband and I ordered lots of items to share, including the mussels, beef tartar, cacio e pepe, lasagna, the filet and the scallops. Really nothing was ground breaking and quite a few of the items were really just mediocre. I did also feel like the service was pretty slow and we waited quite a bit between each course. I really wanted to like this place but I feel like my money could be better spent elsewhere.

Absolutely delicious experience in every way. The service was amazing and our server, Gabbi, had the best recommendations and helped us pick perfect meals for ourselves and our kid (9 years old). Amazing way to celebrate our special occasion and easy to recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic spot.

We’ve been to the Fat Ox in Scottsdale three times now and it never disappoints. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are top-notch every time. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed a delicious pasta dish and some incredible veal meatballs for dinner. So delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

Such great food and wine! They have a few different dining rooms so we asked to sit at the back in a quieter, brighter spot. Their sommelier was super helpful and the cocktails were fantastic.

The hostesses seemed a bit indifferent when we arrived. That notwithstanding, our server Luke was very welcoming at our seating and outstanding the entire service. The issue was the food, which is the main reason that we all go out to eat. The Caesar salad was very good. I am proudly American-Italian, and the 25 layer lasagna I ordered was robbery. The portion was very small, it was bland, the marinara sauce is from a jar or can, and the broccolini that topped it was super salty. My wife ordered the fillet steak. At $62 for 8oz. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect to be very impressed. It also was very salty, and it was covered in a sauce that overly masked the taste of the beef. If a restaurant is going to name the farm or purveyor of the meat, don’t drown the taste of their years of effort spent in raising the steer and bringing it to your tables. I don’t want to go on and on. We are visiting from out of town, and chose this as 1 of the 4 restaurants for dinner that we would choose of the 1,000+ restaurants in the Scottsdale vicinity. The lasagna is an insult to Italian cuisine and to the wallet. Harsh words, but true as north. If you read reviews hoping to be persuaded in the choice of a restaurant, or what to order or not order at a restaurant, I can only offer this as my community service to you.
