Food: WOW. I seriously was not expecting their food to be this good. This is hands down my new favorite restaurant in San Diego. All their dishes were so flavorful and unique. I cannot think of anything that could have made any dish better. My standouts were the wagyu, short rib, and spicy sea-bass, although you can’t go wrong with any dish. Their desserts were also so delicious by not being overly sweet and all of their flavors working together to create mouthwatering desserts. Hard off to the chef to one of the best meals I’ve had!

Service: Nice and attentive staff. Our server didn’t have strong opinions on “must get” dishes as she said that everything was good and she was not wrong!

Ambiance: Their high end decor was one of a kind. We also got to see an amazing sunset to finish our dinner. Great for a special occasion and suitable for big parties.

We were here on Christmas Eve for their menu as part of our trip.  Overall food and atmosphere were pretty good but their service was horrible.  I was not sure whether it’s due to Christmas Eve but everyone was in rush—one server almost flip the drink on me and the other server took our plate away TWICE while I was still trying to finish food on my plate… without asking.
Food: in general it’s flavorful with difference spices.  Our dishes were delicious but heavy on ube.  I did like the idea of pineapple and mango on the side.  Desert was also creative.
Drink: wine was ok but not impressive even though they did have some good selection on their menu.
Service: after I saw how other table were served, I decided to talk to manager.  This was not helpful.  I would never come back for this type of service and management.

From the moment you walk in you know the place will be good. The food was really good. The ambiance was great, elegant and romantic. Would come again. We tried the Short Rib Kare Kare it was delicious and the Lemongrass Chicken, for sides crispy potatoes and crab fried rice.

Animae has to be one of the best restaurants in San Diego. Hits all three point: Ridiculously delicious food, amazing service, and great ambiance! I always try to recommend this place to anyone with an interest in food especially if you are a fan of Filipino inspired dishes

We chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner, drawn by its reputation for exquisite cuisine and expecting a night of indulgence. The service throughout the evening was great—attentive and professional. However, despite having made a reservation and noting the occasion, we were seated at a small table top along the main hallway. This made the setting feel cramped, especially with barely enough space for all the plates and cups.

The food, on the other hand, was truly remarkable and lived up to our high expectations. The Wagyu Miyazaki Tenderloin was a standout dish, so tender it practically melted in your mouth—a genuine testament to culinary excellence. The Szechuan Spicy Seabass also impressed us with its perfect blend of flavors and spices. While the cocktails were just okay and not memorable, the main courses certainly made up for it.

Considering the price point of this classy establishment, a bit more attention to seating arrangements and overall guest experience would have enhanced the celebration. It didn’t ruin our evening, but a better table would have made the expensive outing feel more worth it. Nonetheless, for the food alone, this restaurant remains a top choice for those looking to treat themselves to an exceptional meal.
