I don't usually write negative reviews this long because I couldn't be bothered (check my profile you'll see). But for this hotel, it absolutely deserves a long rant, so here I go.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. We stayed here for four days for a conference, throughout our entire time there we only encountered three staff members that were friendly and helpful to us. The rest were very cold and dismissive.

The room does not have a fridge. There was one mini bar fridge that was disconnected and when asked about it, the staff said they don't provide that service anymore. I asked for a fridge in the room but it's extra charge. There was no microwave for guest use in the entire hotel either, asked about it, again, extra charge to have one in the room.

The room phone was extremely old (almost broken, the receiver won't work and I have to put it on speaker) and there was no information about how to contact the front desk (almost seems on purpose). I also can't find the AC controls for the room.

One time we got back late at night, asked whether there was a vending machine in the hotel, because we were very hungry. We were told there were none in the hotel and we had to find and walk to the convenience store at midnight (encountered a crazy dude cursing by the street corner)

We asked for a print station, and were told to go to the business center, which looked like it hasn't been maintained for ages, and had a sign that charges $1 per printed page, which is an absurd amount considering we had to swipe our room key to get in, meaning that only hotel guests can use it anyways.

We paid $400 a night to stay here. Not only does the hotel lack accommodations, the staff is less than helpful about it. They seem overworked and unhappy to be there. The entire air of the hotel also seems very pretentious and greedy. They want to charge us extra left and right. For the price we paid, we should have received better than average service and accommodations, but we received much lower than what's usually expected at a hotel.

That's it, here's my rant. Take it or leave it, but that's our experience. Probably never visiting SF again as this has left a bad taste in our mouths.

Every year I stay at this hotel for GDC, and every year I enjoy it.  However, this year was exceptional.  As a busy executive, I like to rise early and grab a cup of coffee to help my motivation.  ;) Typically, both the restaurant and room service are unavailable until 6:30am.  This mine as well be late afternoon.  I need coffee as soon as I can get it.  I’ve provided feedback on this point in years past, but no change.  This year, Mariam Metivishvilli was checking me in and actioned to make my stay better.  With her help, the restaurant opened a full 30 mins earlier.  It might seem a small gesture, but it had a massive impact to the quality of my stay.  Outstanding, Mariam!  Thank you so much!!

Also, I want to send a special thank you with deep gratitude to Luis who made a perfect cup of coffee (American and a shot of espresso) every morning.  By the second day, he would just see me and knew what I wanted.

Lastly, to Dorian, every year you are the warmth for the Inter-Continental.  You make my stay feel like I’m coming back home.

Stay in this hotel!  You will have a better week because of it!!

Location is very convenient. You can walk to the downtown or mission bay from here.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were always clean when we returned.
The breakfast buffet had many options, so I considered it was a good buffet.
The waiters at the restaurant and bar were very friendly and attentive.
Would return again!

Thank you for a superb stay and quality hospitality from all your staff. Especially thankful fot the wonderful service from your excellent bar staff, Zoe, Sergio, Chris and server Jim. Zoe showed us a fun time by welcoming my partner and I with lots of love and laughs throughout our weekend stay and made sure we were welcomed and happy.  Sergio was friendly and kind and made our time memorable. The cleaning staff was always friendly and kind with a 'hello!' 'Good day' at each encounter. It made myself and husband feel welcomed. The lounge was lovely and always well kept by the staff. Delicious treats and libations. The front desk and concierge staff was fabulous, professional and helpful. I always enjoy my stay at Intercontinental and I'm very looking forward to returning soon. See you soon

Phenomenal Experience – Where I Set My Personal Best

My friend Tim Wiley and I stayed at the InterContinental San Francisco and had the best time ever. From the moment we arrived, everything was first-class—immaculate rooms, world-class service, and a perfect location in the heart of the city.

But what made it truly unforgettable was the indoor pool. This is where I swam my fastest mile ever: 1,700 meters (1.06 miles) in 29:08.1 at a pace of 1:39 per 100 meters. It was a huge personal milestone, and the energy and atmosphere of this hotel played a big part in helping me get there.

Whether you’re here to relax or break records, this place delivers. I’ll definitely be back.
