I recently dined at ROOH and had a wonderful experience. The starters were delicious with beautiful presentation, setting a great tone for the meal. However, the large plates we ordered, including the paneer pinwheel and a chicken dish, were a bit too mild and sweet for what we’d expect from Indian cuisine.

When we shared our feedback with the staff, they were incredibly apologetic and offered to remake the dishes, though we opted for complimentary drinks instead since we were already full. Their attentiveness and thoughtfulness really stood out, showing how much they care about their guests’ satisfaction. I made a same day reservation for 5:30pm right when they open on a Friday. As we were passing by on our bikes we could smell the aroma of butter and garlic outside the restaurant which was alluring.

The restaurant is a vibe. Dim lightning, clubby type music and posh. They serve elevated Indian dishes. The service was great. Our server, Ashu made some great recommendations.

We ordered: dahi puri and mushroom kulcha as starters, assami pork ribs and chili garlic crab for small plates, wild mushroom dosa and plain naan for main to share and a gulab-e khass for dessert.

It was actually a lot of food for the 2 of us. The food is rich. The Dahi puri was fun to eat. The yogurt mousse was so light, it was my favorite. The mushroom kulcha was rich and heavy and just one note. The ribs reminded me a bit of General Tso's chicken, it was sweet and sticky. I wish they would provide a wet towelette. The chili garlic crab must be what we were smelling outside the restaurant. A nice portion of lump crab meat with 4 miniature size buns. Eat this while they are still warm and fluffy. By this time we were full. We could have skipped the large plate of the wild mushroom dosa. It was pretty and colorful but also rich and heavy. The dessert was good. Loved the rosey notes. A sprinkle of crushed pistachios would have been lovelyThey had a bunch of flavors for the sorbet which I hope to return to try next time like lychee coconut and guava.

My first time trying Indian food was at Michelin accredited Rooh. Now before I go to San Francisco Giants baseball games. I always eat at Rooh. I love this place. Ain’t nothing like your first time. Rooh has not only delicious entrees such as Lamb and butter chicken. They also serve up amazing cocktails!! Really hit the spot. Worth the pennies. Want Giants to win, eat at Rooh and root for the Giants then !

Went with big group. The service is great even we have more than 20 people in our group. The menu was prefixed, over all nice selection and variety. Prawn was a little bit dry, all other plates were good. Vegetarian plates such as artichoke and potato were great. Good mock tail menu.
