I visited Tony’s Pizza Napoletana on December 31, 2024, excited to experience the food from this renowned, award-winning pizzeria. As expected, the restaurant was packed, and I waited over 100 minutes for a table. While the long wait was frustrating, I remained optimistic, hoping the food would be worth the hype. Once seated, I ordered the Caesar salad, Buffalo wings, and fries as appetizers, followed by one of their signature pizzas. The appetizers were outstanding—each dish was bursting with flavor. The Caesar salad was fresh and well-balanced, the Buffalo wings had just the right amount of heat and tang, and the fries were perfectly crispy. These dishes set the bar high and were the highlight of my meal.

The pizza, while good, fell short of my expectations. The crust was well-prepared, with a nice char and chewiness, and the toppings were fresh and thoughtfully combined. However, I honestly couldn’t pinpoint what made it award-worthy. It was a solid pizza, but I didn’t find it extraordinary or unique compared to other high-quality pizzerias I’ve visited. While I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying it, I didn’t feel it lived up to the hype surrounding its accolades.

Unfortunately, the biggest drawback of my visit was the service, which was shockingly poor for a restaurant of this caliber. Our server was visibly impatient and unprofessional throughout the evening. She rarely checked on our table, and when she did, her tone and body language made it clear that she was annoyed. At one point, I politely asked for extra napkins, and instead of responding, she simply walked away without a word, leaving me wondering if she intended to fulfill the request at all. Such behavior is unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one with such a prestigious reputation.

While the food itself was enjoyable and the appetizers were exceptional, the lack of customer service left a sour taste in my mouth. A dining experience is about more than just the food—it’s about the atmosphere, the service, and how the restaurant makes its guests feel. In this case, the poor service significantly detracted from what could have been an amazing meal. For anyone planning to visit, I recommend going in with tempered expectations and plenty of patience for both the wait time and potentially lackluster service.

I had an amazing experience at Tony’s Pizza! The food was excellent—everything from the pizza to the breadsticks was on point. The breadsticks were especially memorable, loaded with extra garlic, which was a nice touch. What really stood out, though, was the incredible service. The waitresses were all super friendly, and I had about four different ones stop by and chat with us throughout the meal. It was such a nice, personal touch, and they even shared some interesting history about the restaurant. I’ve been waiting to try Tony’s for a while, and it definitely lived up to the hype. For the best experience, I’d recommend coming between 2 PM and 4 PM. I’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I were recently within a weeks time was told about this place. We checked out the reviews and thought we had to try it. Went on a morning hike and stopped by opening(12pm).
While there was already a line we got in and got the best seat in the house. We sat right in front of the pizza oven. We got to see the pizza being made by the cooks Mario and Cesar.

We ordered the margarita which we were told by some regulars while in line to try and it so happened to be an award winning pizza. It was GREAT 👍

Service was great, I feel Cesar and Mario were amazing where they answered all our questions while they were at work and were so friendly. The pizza they made for us was delicious too, finished all of it. If they are not the cooks that are cooking at these competitions I think they should definitely be the next ones to go.

Overall my husband and I had a good experience and would recommend to all our friends and family to stop by when in San Francisco to get a bite to eat.

YES it's worth the line and wait! On a Friday night we had to wait maybe and hour and a half for a table for 5. Which wasn't too bad as we were able to join the Yelp waitlist remotely and wait for a text to let us know when to check in with the staff.

Our party went with three pies and an appetizer. The calamari was lightly battered and so crispy! Coming in a good portion we all had a health portion. Our server recommend we do the half an half and the buffalo was spicy!

We got the New Yorker which was so thin and crispy and came loaded with meat. Although I would say I tad too much for my liking. But the crust is perfection! The squash blossom and margarita pies were both delicious but not as crispy as the New Yorker!

Will be back to try other styles of pizza!
