Everyone is talking about Elena's, the newest venture from the North Beach Original Joe's family (as of summer of 2024). Myself been native Mexican (and with very high standards for authentic Mexican food) I had to try it. So came on Father's Day weekend to celebrate my birthday with my kids. We arrived early (by 11AM) for brunch and luckily the wait was not too long (30-45min). The atmosphere is inviting, and the food did not disappoint. We shared a few dishes: stake fajitas, pork tamales, enchiladas and I had an Old Fashion cocktail with Mezcal and Tequila. Every dish  was great and the real deal (the sauce was with the right amount of spicy hotness too!). I was actually very pleasantly surprised with the bill arrived and it turn out to be sub $200 for all we ate. So not only great food but also quite reasonably priced. So def a must visit.

I recently dined at Elena, and while there were a few highlights, the overall experience was disappointing. The waitress seemed impatient and rushed us through our order, which made the atmosphere feel unwelcoming. I tried the pineapple lime drink, but it had a strange, fishy taste that was quite off-putting. On a positive note, the steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great, but the portion size was much smaller than expected, especially considering the price. There’s definitely potential, but the service and quality of certain items need improvement.

The atmosphere of Elena's is amazing. Arched windows line the sides of the dining hall, exposed beams above, open kitchen,  live foliage, medium volume music, and hanging chandeliers set the vibe as hip, upscale, and fast paced.
A hearty portion of chips and fresh salsa are delivered to your table shortly after seating.
By far the best drink on the menu (both by my server's recommendation, and my experience) is the coconut margarita, rimmed with real sweetened coconut flakes.
The ahi crudo is amazing, but I was told later that the Hamachi crudo is one of the best things on the menu.
The Chocoflan dessert was cute, but did leave me wanting a true flan.
I cannot really recommend the Frozen Aperol Aargarita, despite it being a very good looking drink (pictured).
The chicken meal pictured is the Pollo Asado.
Note for Vegetarians: Vegetarian options are limited but available.

My wife took me here over the memorial weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. I think this is going to be our go-to restaurant whenever we crave for good Mexican food from now on. The food is delicious and the portion is very generous the price they charge. The service is great. But the place is a bit loud, especially if you sit at the bar or window counters. But we love the vibe and the energy.

We came here for Saturday brunch with bunch of my friends and had a chance to order different dishes to try .  Overall, we loved the atmosphere and service . Loved the interiors design, vibrant and open kitchen. Service was great and everyone was attentive.

We orders enchiladas, tacos, breakfast burrito , churros and non - alcoholic drinks. Enchiladas was good but not extraordinarily tastier than most enchiladas that I’ve tried at the decent Mexican restaurants in SF.   It was a bit pricier than average enchiladas dish but the portion was HUGE.  I would probably have shared it with another person .

Overall, we enjoyed the brunch . I will probably come back for diner when they might have more options for authentic Mexican dishes to try .
