Dining at Jōnt was an overall excellent experience. The food was outstanding, with the risotto being the highlight of the night. We chose to add fresh truffles, which complemented the dish beautifully and elevated it even further. The cocktails were also exceptional, and I appreciated the unique touch of choosing our own chopsticks for one of the courses.

That said, I’m not really into desserts, and having four dessert courses was kinda overkill for me. The ambiance was okay, but sitting near the robata grill made it feel like a mini sauna—def not ideal for a long dinner.

The service? Top-tier. They paced everything perfectly, which I appreciated since I’m a slow eater. The featured Californian quail was cool to try, but TBH, I’m more of a red meat kinda person.

All in all, it’s definitely an experience—worth checking out if you’re into elevated dining with creative touches.

This was our second visit to Jont, having been really impressed during our first visit in 2021. When we returned to Washington, we decided to dine here again.

The starters were exceptional, with the first four dishes truly impressive. Unfortunately, the last starter featuring black caviar did not meet the high standards expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The second serving of caviar with the Kue Nagasaki was slightly better, but still fell short of expectations.

On a positive note, the Sasanishiki rice was amazing, and the Elysian Fields lamb was also quite good. However, the gyoza and broth that accompanied it were a bit on the silty side, which detracted from the overall experience.

My daughter ordered the Wagyu with truffle addition, and she felt it was one of the best she has had (compared to other 2 and 3-star Michelin places).

For dessert, we encountered a truly unique dish—a bomb, which was enjoyable and very interesting.

Overall, we had a good experience, but given the amount we paid for two people, I expected a better quality of caviar and a more judicious use of salt. It’s worth mentioning that the chef was not in the restaurant that day, which might have accounted for some of the inconsistencies.

Despite these minor issues, we still appreciated the creativity and flavors showcased in the dishes.

Incredible fusion of Japanese and French ingredients and techniques. They adjust the menu seasonally about 6 times per year, focusing on seasonality but also sourcing from all around the world. Some proteins are somewhat local (Virginia and Pennsylvania) and some seafood selections are from reputable Japanese regions. You would think given the reputation, it would all feel a bit extravagant and stuffy but this is something they clearly work to avoid - the atmosphere is kept fun and lively with a playlist featuring R&B/soul/rap legends like Biggie Smalls, Lil Jon, DMX. The staff are all great and easy to talk to. A special shoutout to the non-alcoholic pairing, it is the best of any we have ever had - a great combination of the sparkling hand-fruit  crafts, the fermented teas, and the more uncommon fruit concoctions, many of which are made in-house. But, if you want to go wild, their “F*** it” pairing will not disappoint - 6+ pours of all grand cru selections that are truly special.

We visited Jont yesterday evening and it was an exceptionally memorable event. Everything that the staff works passionately at is like a well orchestrated dance that satisfies all of your senses. The food was delicious and was delivered by the loveliest and kindest staff who were very knowledgeable. You could tell they truly loved their jobs. We ate things that we never had before (ie: fish wrapped in scallops and foie gras topped with caviar - what?!!). They elevated the humble chicken to an unrecognizable level. Even the playlist was so fun and really made for a light hearted but elevated experience.

As if that wasn’t enough, the extra touches at the end were so remarkable. My wife and I have dined at Michelin star restaurants all over the world and we have never experienced what we did at Jont. This is a true THREE star experience, not two. We can’t wait to return again next time we’re in DC.

And p.s., I am dumbfounded by the minuscule amount of negative reviews. It just cannot be true. I query the authenticity of those reviews. Jont tops all of our Michelin experiences - by far!

Middagsbokningen var vid 20:00 — lite sent än vad jag är van vid. Men jag är så glad att jag behöll middagsreservationen. Jag satt på övervåningen vid kockbordet. Jag satt mitt i köket — jag hade en fantastisk utsikt över personalen som tillagade maten. Gruppen bredvid mig var ganska högljudda. Men jag njöt av hela min matupplevelse. Varje kurs presenterades vackert. Personalen beskrev varje rätt när de presenterades. Jag hade också alkoholfria dryckesparningar — utsökt. 
En av mina favoriträtter på kvällen var Bao Bun — jag kunde ha ätit mer. Jag njöt av melonen. Det fanns flera portioner av dessert — jag var tvungen att ta några tillbaka till hotellrummet. 
Hela matupplevelsen varade ca 3 . 5 timmar. Jag skulle definitivt äta här igen.
