4.5 stars. I went here with my friend and we sat at the bar (we got lucky, as we did not make a reservation). The service here was wonderful. Everyone -- the host, our bartender, the servers -- was welcoming, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable of the menu. The martinis and our bottle of orange wine were delicious. The food was very good; every dish, including dessert, was full of flavor. My favorites were the Steak Tartar, Gnocchi, Maple cake and Chocolate Mousse.

Docking a point for portions compared to the price of the tasting menu. There just wasn't enough food for the cost. One more additional menu option would have been great.

We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and chose this restaurant because it has a Michelin star.

Once we were seated at our table and received the menu and water, the waiter surprised us with an anniversary card and complimentary champagne, which I thought was very thoughtful.

We loved the bread and butter, especially the butter, which had a delightful garlicky flavor.

For our first course, we had:

Shima Aji Crudo: I’m not usually a fan of Aji in sushi or sashimi, but I really enjoyed it. The celery dashi and wasabi-lime vinaigrette masked any fishy flavor or smell.

Steak Tartare: My husband ordered this, and I tasted a bit. It wasn't particularly meaty but was nicely blended with papaya.

For our second course, we tried:

Roasted Mushrooms:The harissa added a nice kick, and I loved it.
Shrimp Toast:This was the highlight of the menu for me; the lemongrass aioli paired perfectly with the shrimp toast.

For our third course, we had:

Braised Short Rib: The short rib was incredibly tender and melted in my mouth. My husband loved the congee that accompanied it.
**Striped Bass:** This dish was also good, especially the sauce, which complemented the striped bass nicely.

For dessert, we enjoyed:

Chocolate Mousse: I loved the chocolate mousse, except for the addition of nori. The seaweed flavor clashed with the chocolate, and I didn’t like it at all.

I really enjoyed the food and the friendly service; it felt like I was dining in someone's living room.

I highly recommend this place.

First, the service is off the charts good. They're constantly swapping out utensils and plates for each course. Water is refreshed before you hit 50%.  The restaurant itself is intimate and could be on the cusp of tight side.

Each course was excellent, imaginative and clearly Asian influenced. If you've frequented an array of pan Asian restaurants or even the countries themselves, you'll recognize components. The only miss on this night was the chicken dish - and the short rib was a little dry - but the accompanying  accoutrements nearly made up for it. The desserts were outstanding - high praise for the pastry chef!

One of the top restaurants in DC. We sat at the bar and received exceptional food and service. I let the bartender make me his take on an espresso martini since they don’t carry espresso, and it was perhaps the greatest cocktail I’ve ever tried. It was a great, cozy place to go for a special occasion.
