Tail Up Goat is cozy. I did not know what to expect, especially due to the mixed reviews, so I joined with an open mind. We tried their We Cook For You! menu with Audrey’s wine pairing for Valentine’s Day. The restaurant, tucked away at the bottom of Adams Morgan, is unassuming and very comfortable. The whole experience feels like a dinner party at a friend’s place. The servers were nice and casual. Similarly, the food was not too adventurous; the dishes were made with common ingredients but masterfully prepared. The portions were huge, and the wine pairing was really nice too. The flight complemented the dishes so well, and I’m happy we tried it.

I note that my rabbit croquettes had a bone in it.

BEWARE: The tasting menu is not worth it. It goes for $135/person and the majority of our dishes came from their a la carte menu. The individual dishes were worth less than $175 for two people. I feel ripped off.

It's a 1-star Michelin restaurant, so expect it to be pricey and not large servings. However, the 6-course meal was very good and did fill us up.

The scallops and potato courses were a bit too salty for our liking, but this is more for feedback and not a negative review, so I still give the restaurant a 5-star.

The restaurant is cozy and the staff was very professional.

Such a superb dining experience. I was solo so sat at bar and my waiter went above and beyond with exceptional wine and food knowledge and service. The food was subtle, creative and beautifully balanced. Everything just worked. I find US restaurants rarely have ambiance but Tail Up had great lighting even if dining room was fine but unremarkable. It was a brilliant experience of a brilliant kitchen, sommelier and serving team. Thanks for a DC highlight

A solo diner getting to experience this 1 Star Michelin restaurant during Restaurant Week was eye opening. With a choice among 3 of their standard appetizers, among 3 of their openers and 3 of their entrees, plus the half-glass wine pairings, I enjoyed a complete and filling extraordinary dinner. When I sat down in the back of the dining room with a view of the operating kitchen, the waiter presented a complementary glass of a tasty but not vinagery shrub, featuring orange and cardamon. My appetizer, cod fritters stop an aioli sauce served with quick pickled onions, melted in my mouth. The Sicilian white wine blend was complementary but a bit too acidic for my liking. The pasta course, cooked perfectly al dente, featured a heavy tomato sauce with pig cheeks, and was complemented with Northern Italian rose wine. The beef bourgignon entree was so tender, I barely used the knife to divide the chunks of flavorful beef. The French Grenache red wine melded the taste of the beef. For dessert, I savored the Shiraz dessert wine. A masterful meal which I will long remember.
