Participated in the Omakase. The second floor was an open and inviting space.

Sadly, we weren’t seated at the chefs counter.

Service was rather inconsistent. Our server seemingly changed without notice after he spilled drinks on our table. The second server never introduced himself so it was a bit confusing.

The nigiri itself was tasty. Our favourite was the black cod but the Tasmanian ocean trout was a nice discovery.

I’d say it’s definitely worth trying for the fish and I hope that the service side smooths out.

Love this place! My husband and I did the upstairs omakase for our one year wedding anniversary, and we had an amazing time. Each piece/dish was so unique and delicious! Everything literally melts in your mouth. The chefs and team are super personable and knowledgeable about the fish they are serving. The space is really warm and intimate, making it perfect for a romantic evening together. You have to go through the downstairs izakaya, which by the way, is super cute too. It was a wonderful experience and def worth the hype!

What a gem! We stopped in unplanned for cocktails and happy hour small plates right before the dinner rush. The lamb confit gyoza and karaage were both great, but my friend and I were especially impressed with the cocktails. The sake sangria was refreshing and light, and the citrus from my Ume Old Fashioned went so well with the gyoza. Service was charming and the manager doubling as bartender shared a lot of the history behind the drinks and menu. I'd love to return for a full meal.

Please note this place only responds to positive reviews... It's obvious they are inconsistent currently.

Ordered 4 things with the expectation of getting more but was so unbelievably dissatisfied with all 4 we decided to get a "2nd dinner" elsewhere (mushrooms, chicken, yellow tale maki, himachi). Mushrooms were dried out, chicken was just fried chicken?!?!, Maki was low class period., And himachi was fine.

We got a few cocktails, the lavendulo was quite good but the old fashioned and dessert bloom were hella sweet and not quite what was described by server. Wanted saki but $100 per small bottle felt aggressive...

Despite not eating most things, we were not even approached by service. Waiter ignored us till bill and didn't even try for dessert (probably in our faces since it had been 30min since we saw anyone).

Tons of great Japanese spots here in Chicago. This was a birthday dinner and truthfully a huge waste. Very disappointed.

Will not try again based on hospitality overall.

Support elsewhere. Read the bad reviews. This place is a huge gamble.

I eat a lot of sushi especially on the West Coast which is often known to be some of the best in the world. Pictured you will see the Ora King Salmon and Akami tuna. These basic, simple cuts were the best I've ever had. Their omakase menu doesn't rely on exotic or rare fish to wow the guests. The flavors and techniques they use to propel these sushi staples is perfection. Nothing more to say. 5 stars all the way.  I'll leave the rest of the menu to you as a surprise.
