Food is meant to be enjoyed but food can also be an experience and I have never been anywhere that did this quite as well as Schwa.  Every dish was both beautiful and delicious and you could see the intentionality behind every decision.  I particularly loved both the wagyu and the quail which were probably the best meats I’ve ever had.

As far the experience itself, I can acknowledge it’s not for everyone but it was certainly for me.  The music is loud but not overwhelming and I felt like they were playing one of my playlists.  Really I just had a lot of fun dining here.  I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday experience and hopefully I can come back for another special occasion soon.

The atmosphere is a nightmare. Super loud music that makes me feel physically uncomfortable. Absolutely impossible to hear each other talking. BYOB. And you better do because if you are like us don’t like drinking alcohol, you will not be drunk. If you are not drunk, you will hate this place. Service is cold too. The food can be a 4/5 if they can shut down their music. Tried this place July 2023.

Probably should have expected it from its location in wicker park, but its a hipster vibe for a tasting menu. Not super fancy but intimate/casual. Music is a little loud. There is one bathroom, and you go through the kitchen to get there which was cool. No valet parking so just street parking. BYOB, and they don't have champagne glasses fyi and just a standard wine glass for red or white wines. I had to message the day of due to an issue, and the staff was very responsive and helpful. I felt like the staff serve but do not cater to you, but not in a disrespectful way, more like taking the fluff out of it, less hoity toity (for example, they did a shot of whiskey with us after).

This place is amazing. The vibe is cool. The food is surprising and comforting and crazy and familiar. I don't drink and loved that I didn't have to pay for something I wouldn't get. And as a fellow self employed creative, I realize my playlist needs much Gucci. I hope to come again some time.

Schwa borde ha förlorat sin enda Michelinstjärna för ett tag sedan. Utrymmet var lika trådbar som Servicen. Är en tidigare bosatt och husägare i närheten som bor i Paris sedan 9 år. Rolighetsbuche var magisk. Sedan sjönk ner i vittrad medelmåttighet. Mest talande var en desserträtt med en cannelle som var tydligt bränd och surade min gom i dagar. Kallade det till serverns uppmärksamhet - kock, som citerade några konserverad linje längs, "När det är brunt, kan det inte gå fel. " Jag svarade att detta inte var brunt, utan svärtat/förkolnat/bränt. Han svarade inte, tog bara tallrikarna och gick därifrån. Detta är inte den utvecklande kreativiteten hos en Michelinrestaurang, utan snarare har en restaurang arrogant ridit på sitt rykte från 20 år sedan när den först kom ut på marknaden. Toaletterna var 7 - 11 kvalitet. Öppna ögonen, Schwa. Dina glansdagar har för länge sedan gått vägen för en kulinarisk närbutik men till ett pris av $ 325 per person.

Fantastisk tour de force av kockens konst. Upplyftande kombinationer du aldrig skulle ha tänkt på. Ingen vardagsupplevelse. Middag här är en gång - i - en - livstid nöje. 

Portioner kan ha varit lite för små i vissa fall för att känna igen alla komplexa samverkande ingredienser. 

Ljudnivån något hög vilket gör det svårt att höra serverns detaljerade förklaring av vad som gick in i var och en av de flera rätter under två timmar.

Alla jobbar hårt på det lilla stället, men tar sig tid att diskutera vad de serverar om du har frågor. 

Stället ser inte mycket ut från gatan, och området är inget att prata om, men låt inte det sinka dig.

Mat är tänkt att avnjutas men mat kan också vara en upplevelse och jag har aldrig varit någonstans som gjort detta riktigt lika bra som Schwa. Varje rätt var både vacker och utsökt och man kunde se avsiktligheten bakom varje beslut. Jag älskade särskilt både wagyu och vaktel som förmodligen var det bästa kött jag någonsin ätit. 

När det gäller själva upplevelsen kan jag erkänna att det inte är för alla men det var säkert för mig. Musiken är högljudd men inte överväldigande och jag kände att de spelade en av mina spellistor. Verkligen jag hade bara en massa kul middag här. Jag kunde inte ha bett om en bättre födelsedagsupplevelse och förhoppningsvis kan jag komma tillbaka för ett annat speciellt tillfälle snart.

Vi har sett fram emot vårt besök under en tid. Restaurangen är liten och mysig på den dramatiska sidan (alla svarta med speglar i taket).
Tjänsten var ok, en av servrar / matlöpare var riktigt bra. Resten verkade ganska obekväm i matsalen så vi gissade att de ingick i köket.
Tekniken och matpresentationen var fantastisk. Maten var mestadels god men många rätter var salta - inte väl kryddade men mycket salta.
Det fanns en ravioli med vaktelägg som var läcker men presenterade för en bit, en stor bit som gjorde att det tappade sin magi.
Totalt sett mycket stark teknik, innovativ och rolig. Vår besvikelse kom först från stolarna, väldigt, mycket obehagligt. De var korta. Men dealbrytaren var musiken som spelades. Det var så högt att du bokstavligen skrek på ditt parti för att prata, det var svårt att höra servrarna. Dessutom var det inte bara högt utan aggressivt. Många “f” -ord och riktigt aggressiva texter. Hade vi inte redan betalat för vår måltid, skulle vi ha gått ut.
Det kan tyckas småaktigt för vissa men det är viktigt att ta hand om hela gästernas upplevelse. Detta var så överväldigande att det skuggade det hårda arbetet från det kulinariska teamet.

 - Låt dig inte chocka först från ramskaftets omgivningar; rummet är litet, fönstren är målade över, stolarna är spunna och musiken är hög och rå.
 - Besök kockens andra restaurang Entente istället, om du vill undvika den obekväma frat house-inställningen.
 - Ta en hytt eller Uber till Schwa, eftersom parkering är gles på denna sträcka av Ashland Avenue.
 - Grannskapet är ganska säkert, men tänk på dina Ps och Qs.
 - Attityden här är bräcklig och omogen. Undvik att klaga, undvika att göra speciella önskemål och bara rulla med den.

Vilken underbar matupplevelse! En eklektisk prix fixe-meny med flera oförglömliga kurser. Trots att jag inte är en matare så hittade jag varje kurs minnesvärd. Restaurangen är en GYOB som hjälper till att hålla priset nere även om det är något av en tradition att ta med en flaska tequila för kockarna och kökspersonalen. En enda nackdel är att reservationer inte är enkla att ta sig fram.

Ätade med min dotter. Vi har haft så vibberna, musiken, personalen, atmosfären osv. Maten var fantastisk! ! ! vår första kurs var "Arnold Palmer". anlände på ett bricka med konstgräs med kuber mat på guld tee. Sätt kul och väldigt läcker. Varje kurs var konstruerad, dekonstruerad, rekonstruerad: original och välsmakande utan tro.
Vi tog med en flaska whisky till köket och en flaska vit och röd för oss. Personalen guidade oss om val av vin för varje kurs. En underhållande kväll. Kan inte vänta med att återvända. :)

En av mina favoritfavoriter sedan första gången jag äter där 2006. Jag har varit regelbunden sedan. Väl över ett dussin gånger där, ensam, med familj och med vänner. Alltid glad.

Min fiance var sjuk veckan av vår bokning så jag ringde 3 olika dagar att avbryta före bokningsdagen och de skulle inte svara på deras telefoner. Sedan debiterade de fortfarande mitt kreditkort $ 400 och låter oss inte komma in för att äta så i princip betalade jag dem 400 dollar för ingenting.

Många av problemen härrör från den komplicerade staging och presentation av disken. Om du ska ha en maträtt som innehåller 2 eller flera beståndsdelar ska de serveras tillsammans eller rimligen stänga så att dina kunder inte tittar på maten blir kall och väntar på att maträtten är komplett.
Ta också saltet bort från kocken eller åtminstone rationens användning. Detta var ett stort problem med de första rätterna och förringade vad som var intressant presentationskombinationer. Slutligen i en maträtt som delvis kokas framför dig, gör lammet med kokos, curry och root-öl inte alla måltiderna samma. Mitt lamm och min bordkompis var bra gjort, våra vänner var sällsynta.

Detta måste vara den hippaste restaurangen i världen med en Michelin-stjärna. Från den tid du anländer utanför är det helt som att besöka en extremt cool "dykbar". Men från det ögonblick de engagerar sig med dig är det som. . . . "Vänta en stund, dessa killar är seriösa gastronomer". . . . . 9-rätters provsmakningsmeny är vad du får och det är ett fantastiskt utbud av smaker. . . . perfekt tidsbestämd, bara rätt delar, utmärkt "flöde". . . . . och en av de saker jag älskar (och saknar) om Chicago är du ta med ditt eget vin / sprit. . . . Det finns corkageavgift, men för mig är det sättet att göra det för riktiga vinälskare. Hur som helst, kom hit om du kan.

Jag varnade: det är inte vad du tycker. Men när vi gick ner i en mörk gata, svängde vi förbi fönster och förbi en tomt entré till en tom restaurang med blåsande underjordisk hiphop och ett vass av - något, um, smaklig? - Att driva genom luften väntade jag absolut inte att jag skulle ha ett av de vackraste, unika och kreativa måltiderna i mitt liv. Jag säger inte mer, för överraskningen är hälften av upplevelsen. Missa inte det.
