My new found favorite spot! The French Smash is definitely in my top 5 burgers in Chicago! Their drinks are out of this world! The concoctions are extraordinary! Tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago and I’ve already been there three times since!
The Pepper Off Dead is by far my favorite drink on the menu! So good it’s dangerous!
Surprised my friend for his birthday and the staff had a signed card waiting for him when he came! Absolutely wonderful through and through!

Our experience at The Loyalist was a mix of highs and lows, starting with an exceptional cocktail program. The drinks were well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted, and our server’s expertise and guidance in selecting them added to the enjoyment.

The highlight of the meal was the mussels, with their plump, tender meat and flavorful broth. However, while delicious, the broth’s saltiness was ultimately overpowering. The anchovy toast canapé leaned heavily toward being too salty for our taste.

Unfortunately, the initial excitement and promise of the appetizers were overshadowed by the entrees’ significant delays and uneven quality. Despite arriving promptly for our 5:30 reservation and ordering early, our entrees weren’t served until after 7 p.m., which left a considerable gap between courses. To make matters worse, a neighboring table that arrived notably later and ordered multiple apps and burgers was served well ahead of us and finished with their entrees before ours even arrived!

When the food did arrive, the results were underwhelming. The burger—the best burger in Chicago we’d heard so much about—had a cold bun, a lukewarm patty, and fries that were stale and cold on top. The patty itself was well-cooked but lacked flavor without the sauces. While the chicken was juicy and well-prepared, it felt unremarkable. The foie sourdough was a standout for its flavor, but it seemed the timing of our dishes was mismanaged, leaving the burger to suffer.

Our server was empathetic once informed of our experience, although we wish she would have checked in more during the extended wait or after the entrees were served, which added to the frustration. The inconsistency in pacing and execution made this visit a roller coaster of emotions. While we appreciated the effort and service recovery at the end, it’s difficult to reconcile the anticipation with the experience we had.

Loved everything except one of our burgers were somehow cold. We didnt say anything and had it anyway and it was still incredibke. The food was still incredible and very high quality. My wife and I loved the vibes and the service was extremely above and beyond. Overall, the burgers are some of the best in the city by far and we have had over 30 different burger places in the city including all the ones on people’s top 10 lists. If we had to pick, we’d choose the French smash over the OG, but both are totally great, especially if you pour some of the mornay sauce that comes with on to the burger. The cookie dough ice cream was somehow the best wemve ever had and is apparently hand spun there. We definitely will come again and hope ALL our food is warm.

We have heard this is the "best burger in Chicago" so I was thrilled when we got a reservation. Let me be clear, the burger is definitely delicious, but I think since it was built up so much, I was bound to be disappointed. The burger was definitely fantastic. I loved the mustard and pickle juice on the side but the fries were just ok to me. I think that's why it didn't live completely up to the hype.

Overall disappointing experience with the price paid. Had high expectation as this place always listed as one of the best burger in Chicago. Would not recommend.

The French smash burger is the worst. Patty was extremely salty and dry. Disappointed with the seasoning and not a fan of the texture of the thin smashed patty. It is slightly bearable after adding the pickle brine and sauce.
The loyalist OG burger is above average but is not my choice of the best. The patty is soft and juicy, it is heavy and very saucy, adding the charred onion sauce doesn’t do much to the flavor. The fries are just okay.
Escargot tart is fluffy soft with slight crisp, flavor is citrusy and very light, wish it has more garlic or butter flavor. Osyter is slight above average, small but firm texture with flavor on the strong side.
Chocolate profiteroles is meh, can skip this.

Bar stool is awkward and not comfy for long meal. Very loud with a full house of guest so not the best for conversation.

Also got cocktails, juicy and Velvety & smooth. They were okay.
