Great experience!  Room was very clean - entire staff was beyond friendly no matter what time of day or night.  Bed was comfy and room was able to be super dark which made sleeping great!  There Is a good amount of noise from bourbon street but that’s not the hotels fault- I booked a bourbon balcony after all and would again!! Desire had a great happy hour and food. Shout out to Caleb the doorman who from day one made me feel like the only guest in the place. He was informative, friendly and funny.   5 stars and would stay again next time.  Highly recommend ! Thank you !

Came over here for a company event,

Room accommodations were pristine, staff first and foremost were unique and unique!! Incredibly warm and welcoming

Clean establishment throughout, regardless of the snow, they made sure that the place was safe and dry at all times, business throughout the hotel, were incredible as well!

The best part of this stay, hands-down, would be the staff.
This hotel is in a busier location, so you will hear noise, music (good music though), but that’s the whole part of the experience and convenience.
When I got in, the toilet was the only thing that needed cleaning, but we are human, I forget things in my job so I wasn’t upset, but due to it being so late, housekeeping wasn’t available so when I mentioned it to the front desk, the security guard standing by heard and took it upon himself to clean it. I offered to do it myself, I’m not above anyone, but they wouldn’t let me. The front desk staff did offer me to switch rooms, but it wasn’t needed. Instead, this security guard, Ken, was on his hands and knees cleaning it as we laughed about life.
I also needed a microwave the next night to warm up some leftovers and the maintenance crew, Leon, was so quick to bring me a microwave along with extra washcloths. Again, we laughed and carried on while he plugged it in for me. The front desk staff and I laughed together, joked around, and welcomed me as if they knew me. Absolutely loved the staff of this hotel. They stayed on top of keeping everything clean from people who didn’t know how to clean up after themselves and had the most professional attitudes even when a customer was being ugly with them over construction noise the city was doing which they have no control over. Great job to the staff, for making me feel like family on my business trip. I appreciate you all and pray for a blessing for each of you. Thank you!

OK, let’s start with a positive. The Royal Sonesta is in a great location on Bourbon Street, with plenty of shopping during the day and a variety of bars and restaurants close in the evenings. The room was small, but it had a fantastic balcony which we upgraded to.

Now, for what could be improved. When we arrived, the balcony had an old coffee cup and numerous cigarette butts in a puddle of water, which someone must have used as an ashtray. It was pretty gross and no one ever came to clean it up.  The beds felt like sleeping on camping cots and probably the least comfortable I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. There was also absolutely no hot water. We didn’t complain because we figured we could shower quickly, and we didn’t want to wait around for someone to fix it. I wasn’t even sure it was fixable. While checking out today, I overheard another hotel guest complaining about wanting to move rooms due to the lack of hot water, and she was right, it really did suck.  You want to come back to your room in the evening,  shower, wash your hands properly and  you can’t when there is no hot water.

The noise on Bourbon Street can be overwhelming.. it’s busy at all hours. At around 7pm each night that we were there, there were 2 little girls “drumming” on buckets.  I’m all for local music, but they were just making noise.   They were some pretty serious panhandlers too.  If someone walked by and didn’t acknowledge them they chased them down asking for money.  Their mom and grandmother sit in chairs on the sidewalk watching it all happen.

The bar noise winds down around 4 AM, only for fights to break out shortly afterward. We witnessed and overheard multiple altercations between 4 and 6 AM. We had to call 911 one night because a man was beating up a woman. Punched her in the face multiple times and she hit her beat on the pavement.

Every morning around 6 AM, trash trucks, street sweeper machine  and big power washing trucks,  come out to clean up the mess from the night before and it is very loud, making sleep elusive for those with rooms facing Bourbon street.  We downloaded a white noise app, which helped drown it out but be prepared- the noise from Bourbon St  is LOUD. The entire second floor hallway also smelled like old cooking oil, which was both strange and nauseating.

Overall, it’s a beautiful place. Some staff members were great, while others were just mediocre. My biggest complaints are definitely the uncomfortable bed and the cold shower.

Right in the center of the action. Rooms were clean and neat. Beds were comfortable. Staff went out of their way. Ask for more bath soup and received it in less than 10 minutes. A little confusing finding the entrance. Recommend going through the under ground parking to check in. Pool area has a bar that serves food on weekends. Room was picked up every day without having to request it! Nice place to expect partying people in adjacent rooms.
