Sadly, the inconsistency of food quality has turned a long time staple in to a hard pass. For almost two decades this was always one of our favorite places to enjoy a great meal with exceptional service. Unfortunately the food quality, especially that of the steak, can ruin an otherwise pleasant experience. The service was still top notch, but the cramped space and elevated prices are no longer overcome by the quality of the food itself.  It’s just no longer worth the risk of getting a steak that is mainly gristle.  Hopefully this is just a phase, because in a city with so many amazing restaurants, it’s hard to compete if you’re not on your best game.

The food and ambiance was great. I had the French onion soup and ravioli. The ravioli was amazing. The soup had a little less salt than I’m used to in a French onion. However, I will definitely be back very soon for the amazing food and wine!

The server never stopped by to take our order after waiting 30 minutes.  The manager finally took our order.  I was shocked that a salad with salmon cost $35 and only had 8 pieces of lettuce and a square of salmon that was the size of a deck of cards.

My Manhattan and my friend’s Vesper was good.Her fries were crispy.  Thankfully she shared them with me because I was given no bread or anything in addition to my tiny salad with salmon.   Nobody stopped by to see if we were happy or if we needed anything.   We had to flag someone down to pay.  It was a huge disappointment

Den sofistikerade kundkretsen kändes som rekvisita för en perfekt kväll. Jag gick för ostron följt av den legendariska biff pommes frites tillagad ordentligt sällsynta och en extravagant fantastisk Pauillac. Servitören var underbart diskret i att hålla bordsytan tydlig och väl - presenteras. Jag är hörselskadad, så bäst av allt var hur lätt det var att samtala med min gäst. Reservationer rekommenderas starkt.

1 ) Chefen var inte flexibel alls och hon kommer inte att dela checken, men när man är på affärsresa blir det svårt att få ersättning. Hon gjorde det svårt för mig. 
 2 ) Salladen kom med min förrätt var inte alls färsk som ni kan se på mitt foto. 
Chefen försökte ta fram en fräsch salladstallrik senare, men synd, jag var klar med mitt ätande. 
 3 ) Salladen hade inte mycket smak heller och knappt klädd. Vi var tvungna att be om mer dressing. 
 4 ) Jag gav stjärnan till servitören som var professionell och sympatisk.

Åkte i december förra året på middag innan jag såg Nötknäpparen på Lincoln Center - en present från min studentdotter som följde med mig dit. Gjorde en tidig bokning och när vi kom, det var bara en annan part i matsalen. Den var tom. 
Värd fortsatte att sätta oss två (jag och 5 ’ 8 ” dotter) till ett bord som var inklämd i det bortre bakre hörnet under en klädhängare. 
I bästa fall var det ett dåligt bord för ett enda matställe. Inte lämpligt för två personer särskilt när resten av matsalen var tom förutom för en part. Som hade rockarna på kroken ovanför en av sitsarna. Det skulle ENDAST vara lämpligt att sitta oss där om det var det sista öppna bordet på platsen. Vi satt en kort stund men rockarna fortsatte att borsta upp mot mitt huvud. 

Jag bad kort därefter om ett närliggande normalt bord för två och efter en stunds tvekan gick värden med på att sätta oss vid ett vanligt bord för 2 . 

Jag gick med en väldigt dålig smak i munnen. Vi är tysta människor, snyggt klädda för vårt kommande LC-evenemang. För att undvika missförstånd, dotter född och i sitt sista år på college i NYC. Jag bodde på Manhattan i 15 av mina vuxna år och dotter född i NYC. Det betyder att vi var en nuvarande och före detta New York-bo. Så det måste ha varit riktnumret 908 som jag var tvungen att ge för att säkra bokningen. 
En stor besvikelse. Maten var ok. Söt mysig inredning men värdens snobberi lämnade en dålig smak i munnen.

Cafe Luxembourg missar aldrig! Det är alltid en pålitlig, konstant i en hektisk, kaotisk stad. Det känns som om du gick in på ett brasserie i Paris. Hela personalen är exceptionell, från värdinnor som hälsar dig, servitörer, bartenders, bärare, kockar / kockar, och chefer. Du är välkommen och väl omhändertagen. Maten är superb, atmosfären är chic af, och upplevelsen är gudomlig. Jag rekommenderar starkt!

Tyvärr har den inkonsekventa livsmedelskvaliteten under lång tid förvandlats till ett hårt pass. I nästan två decennier var detta alltid en av våra favoritplatser att njuta av en fantastisk måltid med exceptionell service. Tyvärr kan matens kvalitet, särskilt biffens, förstöra en annars trevlig upplevelse.
