Can be a long wait for lunch but well worth it.  For first timers, I recommend to stay with the upstairs Cafe.  There is a  basement Cafe  also and no wait in line.
What we ordered (2nd visit):
spicy egg salad sandwich , sausages,  Butternut soup, double espresso with cream, Sacher torte, Black Forest cake.

There’s always a long line outside the gallery, but today, seeing no line, I decided to take my bf there and give it a try. However, there was still another line inside the museum, and we ended up waiting over 45mins to get seated.

The food was great— very authentic and traditional Austrian cuisine. We ordered 3 entrées due to the small portions: schnitzel, beef goulash, and veal sausages—all were very delicious. The Austrian cream coffee was also excellent, and for dessert, we tried the rum cake and warm cheese strudels, paired with two glasses of wine. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and we also enjoyed the prompt service and the view of CP.

But is it worth the price? Probably not. 5 stars for the cuisine authenticity, awesome service, delicate ambiance and my lovely company- but def not for the price tag lol

Classic, elegant,modern and feels like home. Delicious Austrian food and friendly service. Love cabaret nights,museum a store cross the hall. Waiting line moves fast, but recommend to make reservation in advance for upstairs. Downstairs seating no reservations needed.

A German friend recommended Café Sabarsky, praising its authentic ambiance reminiscent of its European counterparts. We visited it on December 22nd, 2024, a frigid day (-10º Celsius), and despite the chill, a long line had formed outside for the first-floor seating, which offers a traditional Viennese atmosphere. It was indeed charming. However, we opted for the lower floor, a smaller and more modern space where we were seated immediately. This area exudes a Berlin-style café vibe, adorned with imagery of current exhibitions hosted by the museum housing both cafés. While the art style on display didn’t appeal to my personal taste, what truly mattered was the dining experience.

The service was excellent, with attentive and polite staff. The cappuccinos we ordered were enjoyable, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The savory dishes arrived cold and were overly salty, while the pastries were cloyingly sweet. As someone accustomed to German cuisine, the flavors felt off. While I wouldn’t return for the food, I must admit the first floor’s elegant and charming ambiance is worth experiencing.

Nice caffe, you are back in Germany/Austria. You can drink and eat tradional german/austrian. Warm atmosfere. The service is elegant but a bit too slow. I had to wait quite long to be seated despite free table were available and three members of the staff were in.

Detta är en mycket charmig bur inom ett museum. Utmärkt Service. Intressant vin- och ölutbud. Utsökt mat.

Min dotter och jag hade en underbar middag på Cafe Sabarsky. Förrätten (sommarärtssoppa - jag vet, vem blir upphetsad av ärtsoppa? ) , våra förrätter och kanske särskilt desserten var omtänksamt förberedda och läckra. Wienerbiffgulaschen var det bästa jag ätit, och Bratwurst (inte så ho hum som man kan tro) var mycket god, och potatisen serverad med dem var utmärkt. Spara plats för dessert - vi hade Marillenknödel och Klimpttorte. Precis vad du förväntar dig av en fin österrikisk / Tyska restaurang. 

Extra bonus: gå upp och gå genom museet. Du hittar bland annat en av konstvärldens mest kända målningar, Klimts Kvinnan i guld. Wow! Du kan titta på filmen Woman in Gold med Helen Mirren och Ryan Reynolds för att lära dig mer om historien bakom målningen och hur IT hamnade i Neue Gallery, där Cafe Sabarsky finns.

Detta kafé inne i Neue Gallery serverar god österrikisk mat. Beställde schnitzeln som var väldigt god men den kommer inte med sås eller sås.

De har bra mat, och deras desserter är ännu bättre. Ät en lätt måltid och splurge på dessert! Servicen var utmärkt, de har en pianist att serenade dig. Om presentbutiken är stängd (vilket den var när vi åkte, vilket var bra : ) ) , säljer de sina sylter på restaurangen. Aprikossylt, jag köpte tre, två var presenter.

Härlig plats i en bevarad 5th Avenue herrgård för brunch / lunch innan du träffar The Met. Österrikiska specialiteter regerar. Se till att spara plats för dessert!

Mitt på gatan. Patrick’s Day festligheter, var detta café en oas av gästfrihet. Servicen var vänlig och oklanderlig, och maten var lika med österrikiska - stil mat någonstans. Jag hade en klassisk wursttallrik, och min älskling hade en krabba och (perfekt mogen) avokadosallad.

Vi var utmattade efter att ha gått över 50 kvarter och stått i över en timme och tittat på utställningen på Guggenheim Museum, 2 kvarter norrut. Vi var hungriga och törstiga och alla hade varit här förut. Huvudrestaurangen var packad med en mycket stor linje, och sedan informerades vi om att det fanns ett annat rum nere utan väntan. Vi åt soppor (gulasch och butternut squash - båda underbara) , rödbetssallad och 2 desserter. Allt var utsökt och snabbt serveras. Servicen var lite lakejisk.

Vi stod i kö en regnig vintersöndag. En av personalen kom ut och frågade om någon ville äta i källaren. Vi valde att göra det. Det var en annan väntan men det var åtminstone inomhus. Det finns en trevlig meny och utmärkt service

En tysk vän rekommenderade Café Sabarsky och berömde dess autentiska atmosfär som påminner om dess europeiska motsvarigheter. Vi besökte det den 22 december 2024 , en kall dag ( - 10 o Celsius) , och trots kylan hade en lång kö bildats utanför för den första - golvsittningen, som erbjuder en traditionell wiensk atmosfär. Det var verkligen charmigt. Vi valde dock nedre våningen, ett mindre och modernare utrymme där vi satt direkt. Detta område utstrålar en Berlin-stil café atmosfär, prydd med bilder av aktuella utställningar värd av museet rymmer båda kaféerna. Även om den konststil som visades inte tilltalade min personliga smak, var det som verkligen betydde något matupplevelsen. 

Servicen var utmärkt, med uppmärksam och artig personal. De cappuccinos vi beställde var trevlig, men tyvärr var maten en besvikelse. De salta rätterna kom kalla och var överdrivet salta, medan bakverken var kloakigt söta. Som någon vant sig vid det tyska köket kändes smakerna främmande. Även om jag inte skulle återvända för maten, måste jag erkänna första våningens eleganta och charmiga atmosfär är värt att uppleva.

Vilken speciell plats med en stor och vänlig personal. Åt kalvkorv, och en fantastisk varm choklad. Nästa gång, gå till de fantastiska öknarna. Skjuten ut till Teddy för att få en sologäst att känna sig som hemma. Det enda är att de serverade en flaskkoks som inte var en mexikansk koks. Måste rätta till det, alla vet att det är Cadillacen att dricka en cola!

Cafe Sabersky var inte värt att vänta. Jag hade längtat efter att åka dit sen innan pandemin. Sen väntade vi en timme i kö för att komma in. Det är mycket bullrigt och trångt. Menyn är begränsad och servitörerna har bråttom eftersom de är överfulla. Jag hade korven som var helt OK. Mina vänner åt rödbetssalladen som de tyckte var jättegod. Mamma åt bratwurst, vilket också var helt okej. Caféet har som policy att inte värma äppelstrudeln även när det efterfrågas. Milchrahmstrudeln. Var varm och utsökt. Det smakade som en sufflé - varm, mjuk och geggig. Den kaiserschmarren som skulle vara sufflén var varm, men det var bara uppskurna bitar av kyld hård kaka - inte mycket bra 

Museet var bra! Och jag kommer tillbaka men nästa gång vi ska äta någon annanstans

Bra österrikisk mat! Bakverk är underbara, och vår grupp har också haft skinka och ost och korv och kringla frukost objekt. Vi kom dit vid 9: 15 på en lördag och vår grupp av 6 satt omedelbart. När vi åkte vid elva var det dock kö ut till gatan.

Vi träffade museet och Café på inrådan av en lokal vän och vilken bra dag! Vi valde traditionell österrikisk mat, eftersom Sabarsky var österrikare. Stora förrätter, desserter, intressant (om liten) vinlista. Prova den ungerska Chardonney. 

Vet innan du går: de tar inte lunch reservationer (såvida du inte är en stödjande medlem i museet) så RÄKNA MED att se en linje vid 11:00, och räkna med att vänta 30 - 40 minuter för lunch. Mindre mitt i natten. Kanske mer. Vi hade en grupp på 6 , och Caféet är alla 3 - 4 personers bord, så jag varnade hovmästaren vi skulle vara överst i kön. De lyckades få ihop två bord men vi lät mindre sällskap gå före i kön. De driver ett andra rum nere (samma meny) som är trevligt men inte det klassiska originalet.

Vi åt lunch på det här kaféet innan vi besökte Neue Galerie och delade på Gulaschsoppa och Krabbköttssallad till lunch plus två kakor. Både soppan och salladen hade en bra mängd protein och tillsammans med desserten kunde de hålla oss uppe till kvällsmaten, även om kvaliteten på varje rätt inte alls var stor. Vi gillar också smakerna av soppa och sallad. Poppyseed Cake med Yoghurt och Seasonal Berries hade en unik konsistens, och Rom - Soaked Cake med Raspberry Glaze var ganska dekadent men smakade lite för sött för oss på grund av glasyren. Kvaliteten på tårtorna var mycket bra, även om de fortfarande inte kunde jämföras med de tårtor vi hade i Wien förra året.

Härligt wienercafé på Neue Gallery. 
Mysigt och elegant utrymme, massor av karaktär och läckra österrikiska och tyska specialiteter. 
De har också ett komplett urval av österrikiska kalla drycker, inklusive Almdudler! 
Verkligen njutit av crepes med rökt forell och brödknyten, men det bästa är absolut kaffet. Bara fantastiskt gott kaffe, vanligt eller med grädde eller vispgrädde. 
Äppelstrudel och cheesecake helt enkelt superbt. 
Atmosfären är livlig, service mycket professionell. 
Ett bra ställe, rekommendera reservationer, eftersom det är mycket populärt. Bra för familjer, inklusive med barn, och par och små grupper.
