This restaurant is an excellent representative of modern Chinese cuisine. Their dishes retain the essence of traditional Chinese food while being adjusted to modern dietary preferences, appealing to a broader audience.

Many of their dishes not only taste great but also have an appealing presentation. The Peking duck, in particular, is one of the best I’ve had in New York, with the perfect balance of richness without being greasy, true to the authentic Beijing style. Additionally, their creative desserts are also impressive.

Aside from the food, their service and ambiance are commendable, with an elegant setting and well-spaced seating, making it ideal for conversations. The only downside is that the restroom is a bit far from the dining area, with dim lighting, making it hard to find.

Overall, it's a great Chinese restaurant worth recommending.

Definitely on the pricier side but for the quality of the food and service you receive it’s worth it. I recommend getting their Emperor Dinner Menu for a set price of $65. Chef’s selection of Dim Sum (1 vegetable and 1 protein), appetizer, main course, and dessert. The staff truly go above and beyond to ensure that your experience is exceptional and every need is tended to.

From appetizer to dessert, all exceeded expectations! We did order the fried dumplings with squid ink, speechless! Too bad most of the servings are usually good for 2, you’d be wanting for more! Also the fried noodles and Chefs fried rice was good too! Some desserts were not available yet by the time we had to order some, one dessert that we wanted, there was a 20minute wait so we had to order another dessert but also good! The ambiance, good for celebrating occasions and special events. Make sure to get your table reservations!

The atmosphere inside Hutong is upscale and cozy. With their warm and friendly staffs, they can make a cold blistering winter warm! We ordered a couple delicious drinks to warm up as well. Hutong has recently launched the Emperor Dinner Set for only $60 per person. Enjoy some dim sum and appetizers before your entree and choice of rice. Then indulge in sweet desserts that you won’t find anywhere else. All dishes are beautifully arranged with flavors you can taste. Stop by and try out their Emperor Dinner Set now!

Recently Updated: Hutong’s new Northern Dim Sum Tasting Menu and their creative drink selection have once again solidified its status as one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in NYC. The menu, a bold reimagining of traditional dim sum with Northern Chinese flavors, features standout dishes like Wagyu Beef & Black Truffle Siu Mai and Crispy Crab Roe & Caviar Dumpling, each meticulously crafted and bursting with flavor.

Not to be overshadowed, the drinks were equally impressive. Comfortably Numb, with its intriguing mix of vanilla vodka, lychee, honey, lime, Thai chili, and Sichuan peppercorn, was a spicy-sweet revelation. The Sparkling London Essence offered a refreshing peach and jasmine note, while the Kung Po Iced Tea and Dynasty Sour were both uniquely flavorful, enhancing the overall dining experience.

The culmination of the meal with the Bao & Soy dessert, my favorite in NYC. Hutong is a must-visit for anyone passionate about exploring the depths of Chinese cuisine paired with innovative drinks.

Past: The Peking Duck is one of the best in the U.S. My favorite dishes are Kung Po Prawns and Mapo Tofu. The best is the dessert Soy & Bao; I ordered it every time!
