I wanted an Italian meal after leaving the Guggenheim Museum (it was about a  3 minute walk). I dined alone. The service was quick and the meal (Salmon with purple cabbage) was good. My only wish was for warm bread (even though my waiter said it was warm, it arrived to me cold) and a non alcoholic drink menu (the bartender came to see me about non alcoholic drinks when I was 3/4 into my meal).

I read previous reviews about the lack of customer service and while I personally didn’t have any issues (my waiter was great), I can see how rude service may be interpreted to others. There wasn’t a follow-up/check in when eating my meal (no biggie to me but maybe to others), my waiter did forget my straw (again no biggie to me since I grabbed the one returning from the restroom) and the staff aren’t overly friendly. A manager (my assumption) did ensure that I was receiving service when I first sat down.

Restroom was also very clean, spacious by NY standards and had paper towels rather than a hand dryer.

We had an absolute joyful time. The staff food and service were exceptional. We highly recommend this place!

Paola Osteria is a family style Italian restaurant. Food are supposed to be shared with family and friends.  The salad with avocado, beet and greens are the best salad I had for quite a while.  If you are there. You have to order this.  You will be amazed by it.  Pastas are great like made by grandma.  Clams are so fresh and juicy.  There is no wrong if you are in the area and like to have Italian   Go to this restaurant and enjoy the your meal.

After a long day my girlfriends and I went here for a late lunch. The decor was thoughtful, the staff attentive and professional, and very clean throughout (including the two restrooms). The food was delightful and I will definitely keep this restaurant on my list to revisit sometime in my future visits to NYC.

Disappointed. Came here to celebrate a birthday and found a hair in my pizza. When I notified the waiter and pointed it out, he started telling me how outrageous it was to suggest it wasn’t mine. It was NOT mine, as I have a completely different hair length/texture than the one I found. He kept talking on and on about how the ventilation may have blown one of our hairs onto the pasta but it simply just wasn’t possible. He was rude through the experience, never once acknowledged that it may be their fault. This restaurant is filled with cheesy art as well- it makes you feel like you’re at a bad bed and breakfast.

And I don’t know what was going on with the steak but I’ve never had steak that looks like that at any restaurant. That was supposed to be medium rare but looks like it was frozen and then boiled for a few minutes. Definitely not worth the $60.

Vi gjorde en bokning för fem personer på fredag kväll och platsen var inte mycket upptagen vid den tidpunkten. Servicen var under genomsnittet - hälsningen var opersonlig; för tre personer tog servitrisen glasen vin separat - först för två personer, sedan tog hon beställningen för den tredje personen, som stod mittemot, inte kunde höra beställningen. Servitrisen kunde inte svara på en enkel fråga om rödvinstyp. Matlöparna gjorde ett bra jobb, men de övervakade bordet för tidigt och alltför ofta från olämpligt avstånd. 
Alla tre pizzorna hade vattnig sås som var en ren besvikelse för en italiensk restaurang som är klassad som $$ - $$$. 
Inte ett enda bord hade en vit duk, som visas i många av de bilder som lagts upp av ägaren.
