I had the mango chicken, and the other diner had the Hilib Ari. We shared each other's food. Very tasty and filling. Laid back atmosphere. We went during restaurant week. But prices are still very reasonable even without restaurant week.

The food is amazing, very unique, different, flavorful, and to die for to eat at least 1 time in your life. Come here and get Somali🇸🇴 food and get some different taste! The people are very nice and amazing and the new feature where you can sit on the floor is very comfortable and a very amazing experience. Come eat on the floor for once. Come out of your way to try this food because it really is amazing!

My partner and I decided to try Safari after passing by it a few different times. The cuisine always intrigued us and having grown up on East African food, I really wanted to give it a try.
Upon entering, I was little worried, we pushed our reservation back 15 minutes and when we arrived there were no other patrons.  Did a quick google check and it seems its busiest during the lunch period. Well, come for lunch and dinner! The food is fantastic. We had the sabaaya, beef and veggie sumbusa, chicken suqaar and kalankan. The beef sumbusa was our least favorite item, we felt the beef could have used more seasoning and it was a little on the cold side. Everything else was incredible! The sabaaya had me calling my mother because it reminded me of her cooking. Get your entrees family style and enjoy sharing from a large serving dish, it’s an awesome experience. Make sure to order extra chapati, it may be some of the best in the city. I ordered a few to take home. We were so full we passed on dessert and chai, although it took a lot of back and forth. Then the waiter handed us a free shot of chai and changed our minds! We had to take two orders home with us. I’m not sure where yet, but this is definitely in my top ten restaurants in NYC, let alone Harlem.

🤤 it’s 4:18 am for me and I decided to write this bc I couldn’t stop thinking about the mango curry (with the bread ofcc), sambusa, shaax Somali, and malawax! The food in general is all very delish but the food listed just hit different for me especially with the sauce. During the whole meal I could keep my crusty hands off the bread and mango curry. The server was very kind and it felt like we had the restaurant exclusively for us bc we were the only ones there 😋 anyways already thinking about what I’ll be getting next time I crawl in there!! Also the shaax Somali is a must if the air outside if feeling a bit chilly
