I had the mango chicken, and the other diner had the Hilib Ari. We shared each other's food. Very tasty and filling. Laid back atmosphere. We went during restaurant week. But prices are still very reasonable even without restaurant week.

The food is amazing, very unique, different, flavorful, and to die for to eat at least 1 time in your life. Come here and get Somali🇸🇴 food and get some different taste! The people are very nice and amazing and the new feature where you can sit on the floor is very comfortable and a very amazing experience. Come eat on the floor for once. Come out of your way to try this food because it really is amazing!

My partner and I decided to try Safari after passing by it a few different times. The cuisine always intrigued us and having grown up on East African food, I really wanted to give it a try.
Upon entering, I was little worried, we pushed our reservation back 15 minutes and when we arrived there were no other patrons.  Did a quick google check and it seems its busiest during the lunch period. Well, come for lunch and dinner! The food is fantastic. We had the sabaaya, beef and veggie sumbusa, chicken suqaar and kalankan. The beef sumbusa was our least favorite item, we felt the beef could have used more seasoning and it was a little on the cold side. Everything else was incredible! The sabaaya had me calling my mother because it reminded me of her cooking. Get your entrees family style and enjoy sharing from a large serving dish, it’s an awesome experience. Make sure to order extra chapati, it may be some of the best in the city. I ordered a few to take home. We were so full we passed on dessert and chai, although it took a lot of back and forth. Then the waiter handed us a free shot of chai and changed our minds! We had to take two orders home with us. I’m not sure where yet, but this is definitely in my top ten restaurants in NYC, let alone Harlem.

🤤 it’s 4:18 am for me and I decided to write this bc I couldn’t stop thinking about the mango curry (with the bread ofcc), sambusa, shaax Somali, and malawax! The food in general is all very delish but the food listed just hit different for me especially with the sauce. During the whole meal I could keep my crusty hands off the bread and mango curry. The server was very kind and it felt like we had the restaurant exclusively for us bc we were the only ones there 😋 anyways already thinking about what I’ll be getting next time I crawl in there!! Also the shaax Somali is a must if the air outside if feeling a bit chilly

Vi stannade in för lunch för att prova något nytt och denna lilla restaurang besviken inte. Utsökt. Lunchmenyn är begränsad till get- och kycklingrätter med olika aptitretare, men de var väl kryddade, ömma, välsmakande. Restaurangen är liten och inte snygg, så gå dit för maten, inte inredningen.

Maten var ganska smakfull, även om jag förväntade mig lite mer kryddor. Platsen och inredningen är mycket enkla, men stämningen är trevlig och avslappnad. Tjänsten är bra. Delarna kunde vara större, men (och titta på andra tabeller, storlekarna tycks variera ganska mycket ...).

Somalisk spicing är unik och ganska bra. Jag har haft etiopiska många gånger och detta är märkbart annorlunda. Ris och pasta sidor som följer med huvudrätter är ganska läckra, liksom biffen i ingefära, men de tar en maträtt som serveras medellång sällsynt och ger dig mycket bra gjort och mer än lite torr.
Detta var min andra gång. Första gången jag kom på 9 på en helg var platsen packad och tjänsten var usel. Den här gången kom jag vid 7, platsen var tom och tjänsten var snabb.

Vi åkte hit för min dotter före bröllopsmåltid. Det är en hennes favoriter. Hennes fiance är också. Efter en två timmars rusningstid Uber från Brooklyn belönades vi med några av de bästa afrikanska maten vi någonsin har ätit. Vi hade ett urval av menyn, och varje maträtt var bättre än nästa. Och servrarna och ägarna var så söta! Liten, intim och perfekt. Tack Safari.

Vi älskade på kvällen att köra till Afgoi till en middag av capretto (bebis). . . . nu behöver jag inte gå till Afgoi. . . . . Jag hittade Capretto på Safari. . . . .

Var annars kan du prova somalisk mat? Safari serverar god mat till bra priser. Atmosfären är trevlig nog men inget fint. De lägger de flesta av sina ansträngningar i de läckra matarna. Personalen är alla varma och välkomna och verkar glada att alla vill veta och njuta av deras matlagning. Mona, en av ägarna, har ett leende så sött som honungen på efterrätten jag hade och lyckligtvis svarat och frågor jag hade när hon tog med rätter till bordet. Sambusorna är perfekta för en vegetarian. De är samosas med ett annat namn och fyllda med potatis, ärter och andra grönsaker. Kyckling suqaar är också full av smak och inte alltför kryddig. Och de gör fräsch mango juice som är enastående. Om du inte är i kryddig mat oroa dig inte eftersom maten är mild till medelhög. Det kan ändras till din smak men som varje maträtt kommer med en liten kopp bizbapsdipsås på sidan. Och bizbap är väldigt kryddig.

 Restaurangen ligger en kort promenad från 116: e Street-stationen på åttonde Avenue, linjerna A eller C. Du kommer ut på Adam Clayton Powell Blvd och W. 116 th Street och på två minuter är du på Safari. Den korta promenaden är en fest för ögonen där många senegalesiska kvinnor står och sitter längs gatan och chattar lyckligt på sina vackra, traditionella kläder.
