A nice walk along an old railway that’s just a little bit quieter than the rest of the city. Cool apartments along the way with interesting architecture. Lots of beaches along the way and scenic views from city streets to the Chelsea Pier.

Chelsea to Vessel via High Line Review:

It's a nice area to go for a walk.  You're elevated, so you don't need to cross any streets.  There are elevators, so you don't have to walk up the steps.  The viewing area is just a view onto the street from right over the street.  It's the same height as the rest of the walkway.  There's lots of plants that I imagine look very nice in the spring through fall, but I was there mid-December.  Still, nice views, you see some interesting looking buildings, and see the old railroad tracks.

What an amazing public space.  A peaceful place to walk and be in nature in the middle of NYC.  Plenty of public art, architecture,  and the city to look at.  Well-appointed seating areas, clean and safe. A gem for sure.  Plus so many restaurants and things to do around it.

This elevated walkway is built on a rail line used in the 1930s to transport goods. A section of it was kept and transformed into a walkway (1.45 miles)
The walkway includes gardens, art displays, as well as restaurants and offers great views all along.
There are also many places to stop and rest or read a book such as benches and recliner seats.
It's a great place to walk through especially in the summer when the gardens are in full bloom.
