Phenomenal experience! We were visiting from Chicago and my son wanted a classic New York Italian dinner and Bamonte’s nailed it. From the ambiance to the service to the delicious food, drinks and dessert, it’s everything we were hoping for and then some. If we lived in New York, we’d be regulars. A++++!

My first memory of Bamonte’s is as a child in 1983… my family celebrated every milestone (communions, confirmations, graduations) with dinner here and after all this time, everything is still fantastic. Most recently, I went with some friends for an early holiday dinner a couple weeks ago and even though my favorite dish, chicken rollatini, was no longer on the menu, the chef still made it for me and it was even more delicious than I remember. The portions are generous (I took half of my meal home!), service is attentive and the atmosphere transports you back in time to a New York of days gone by.

20 min wait for the menu after seated, even tho there was a waiter 10 feet away that was ignoring me when I tried to call him over, after I had to walk up to someone to get a waiter for our table, went to the guy who was ignoring me and he said “I can’t” then waited some more and we finally got someone to help us. There was a “tik tok” influencer sitting by us who got full attention from the entire staff, the place was not even packed, got in  at 3:00 and we didn’t leave until 5:30. All this with a reservation, I had high hopes but was very disappointed.

Personally since visiting Italy so much in recent years & being pescatarian in America, I havent had the desire to eat at Italian-American restaurants as it usually is sub par to the food in Italy. However Bamonte’s was the perfect mix as they served classics but also served some special dishes like the Stuffed Artichoke & Calamari Arrabbiata that was outstanding🖤

Min dotter och svärson har varit nedlåtande på denna gamla stil restaurang i över 30 år. 
Personalen måste behandlas mycket väl eftersom de har varit där lika länge. Den förtjusande ägaren kom till vårt bord för att prata flera gånger. Vi kände oss som familj. Men låt mig prata om maten: vi hade bäst slicka dina läppar aubergine rollatini och fyllda svampar i tomatsås! Jag ville äta långsamt för jag ville inte att det skulle vara borta! Och skaldjuren från diavolo - jag har ALDRIG ätit mörare calamari. Även om de ibland kan likna gummiband, var dessa konsistensen på nudlar! Den tiramisu var också den allra bästa! Jag beklagar bara att jag inte kan ge den här restaurangen ett högre betyg

Vi åkte dit för att träffa ett par vänner från N. J. och två par från Long Island. Servicen var dålig, alla servitörer och hjälp verkar vara mycket ointresserad av vad de var där för. Jag beställde två Cola light de tog med 4 och de öppnade dem innan de serverade dem till oss så jag kände att jag var tvungen att ta dem. I slutet av middagen fick vi höra att vi bara tar två kreditkort så vi kunde inte dela notan med tre par. De gav oss en hård tid men efter några minuter de lät oss använda det kort. Sedan berättade de för oss att det kommer att finnas en extra avgift för att använda korten. (som vi förväntade oss) men sättet de berättade detta det verkade som om de debiterar oss att eftersom vi använde tre kort. Maten var mycket bra.

Servitörerna var oförskämda. Han hängde omkring oss för att ta order. Hann inte ens titta igenom det. Kändes väldigt stressad. Vi var 3 par och när räkningen kom skulle de bara ta 2 kreditkort. Chefen en kvinna var lika otäck och sa till min man att vi var oförskämd eftersom vi berättade för henne vad som är grejen att ta 3 kort. Jag berättade separata räkningar och sen sa hon ok. Aldrig gå dit igen

Några gånger om året träffas vi på en restaurang som ligger mitt emellan en grupp på 3 par som bor i NY & NJ. Vi älskar italienska och letar efter recos från vänner. Bamonte’s kom rekommenderas starkt. Det är mitten - kvarter i ett bostadsområde med betjänad parkering intill. Ambiance är gammalt - världen och Bamonte’s har kört det i 125 år. Vi väntade i baren på våra vänner och satt vid ett runt bord i mitten. Det var svårt att höra när ljudnivån ökar när söndagsmiddagspubliken i juni växer. Servicen var OK, även om ibland servitören verkade irriterad när de fick en fråga eller för något ytterligare. Faktum är att de tog med och debiterade oss för 2 extra läsk som vi inte beställde. Inte ett leende på servitrisens ansikten. Två av oss firade milstolpefödelsedagar och ja, de kom att sjunga när ljusen fladdrade. Vi åt musslor oreganata och de var fina men såsen som oftast toppas upp med bröd eller hälls över musslorna var inte vitlöks-/lejon-/brödsmulig utan en tunn brun vätska. Om brödet, vänner sa att det var gammalt men det kunde ha varit mikrovågsugn och kyld som fick det att verka så. Kycklingparmigianan var god och marinarasåsen var god. Min man gillade laxen som hade någon form av sås. Det fanns Kalvmarsala och Kalvparmagiana och några andra rätter, inklusive en sidobeställning av potatis som lappades upp med en andra tallrik beställd, stekt zucchini och stringbönor som alla hade försvunnit. Desserterna var goda men äppelsmultårtan var lite blöt och kall även om den smakade alldeles utmärkt. Amerikansk cheesecake gillades av den ena och inte den andra som tyckte den var mer italiensk - stil med ricotta och inte “amerikansk” stil. Medan jag inte drack kaffet såg det lite lerigt brunt ut och räddade dem från att jag bad om en fräsch kanna. Och sedan när det var dags för oss att be om notan, vi 3 par som alltid dela notan 3 sätt fick en signal av servitören, som höll upp 2 fingrar. Med andra ord är det “policy” & kommer bara att dela notan mellan 2 kreditkort, inte 3 . Förvånad, vi bad om ett undantag och fick avslag. Vi försökte lista ut hur man betalar: separata checkar eller kontantöverföring eller en person som betalar kontant och resten betalar dem. Det ledde till att en av oss fick räkna hans kontanter vid bordet för att se om han hade tillräckligt för att täcka $ 450 + räkningen. Vi bad att få tala med ägaren som sa “Nej, det är vår policy” som min vän sa att det kan vara din policy, men vi ber dig att göra det för oss eftersom vi inte visste och vi inte bor i närheten. Hon sa nej och gick därifrån. Servitören sa ”policyn står på menyn” och där stod den, på en plats längst ner till vänster i det finstilta. Ägaren kom tillbaka och vi bad henne om separata kontroller som hon också sa ”Nej, vi kan inte göra det.” De var inte villiga att arbeta med oss som jag svarade tillbaka på, eftersom du inte vill hjälpa oss att betala vår räkning, jag är ledsen att säga att vi inte kommer tillbaka eftersom det orsakar en mycket obekväm situation. Hon svarade: ”Om vi gör det för dig, om ett bord med 8 kom och bad om att dela notan på 8 kort skulle vi behöva göra det åt dem... ” Och där var den. Inte för att de inte kunde göra det men att de inte skulle göra det. Hon ångrade sig till slut ”just denna 1 gång” och då fick vi rådet av servitören att ”du kommer att debiteras en avgift för det!” Han var tydligt irriterad över att vi hade bett om ägaren och inte följde hans kommando för 2 kreditkort. Den genomsnittliga kreditkortsavgiften på en restaurang är vanligtvis 1 . 5 % till 3 . 5 % av den totala räkningen och de debiterade oss 3 . 9 %. Kundservice är lika viktigt som maten, ibland ännu mer och igår kväll var bara ett exempel. Istället för att de bad om ursäkt för att de inte informerade oss eller försökte arbeta med oss gjorde de det obehagligt. Istället för att säga att vi borde anslå det i baren eller vid entrén eller tala om för folk när de gör reservationer för en grupp människor att det högsta kortnumret de accepterar är 2 , bestämde de sig för att hålla sig till sin policy. Detta ledde till att männen i vår grupp inte ville lämna ett stort tips baserat på servitörens inställning till oss. Fruarna ville lämna hela beloppet eftersom vi visste att vi aldrig skulle komma tillbaka, i alla fall. Så vi delade mellanskillnaden och lämnade mer kontanter på bordet för servitrisen. Min vän sa till ägaren på vägen ut (eftersom de inte kunde vänta med att bli av med oss) ”det är bra att du gjorde rätt beslut eftersom en av kvinnorna är journalist” på vilket hon svarade ”ja, ni var alla otäcka.” För att kvickna till, Bamonte’s du tappade ordet - of - mun rekommendationer för dålig kundservice och i en tid av högre kostnader, där människor håller sina pengar nära västen, kommer bra kundservice förhoppningsvis att hålla dig öppen i ytterligare 125 år

Jag ska vara ärlig, vi blev inte bara besvikna utan också arga. Maten och servicen var hemsk. Vi ser denna plats på TV i en show vi tittar och se alla bra recensioner och vi undrar om vi gick till rätt ställe. En del av maten smakade som om den kom ur en burk. Serverades kalla trots att de var halvt tomma. Kyparen var oförskämd. 
Jag fattar bara inte. Hur kan det här stället överleva hela tiden? Jag äter hellre en frusen middag

Extremt bullrigt. Svårt att ha en regelbunden konversation med människorna runt ditt bord på grund av ljudvolymen. Förutom detta, en servitör som bad om mer dricks än vi gav (vi gav 15 % extra) . Kanske är det vanligt, jag vet inte eftersom vi kommer från ett annat land. Maten var god men mycket "tung".

Lysande teater. Men att lära sig vem som är bordsposition, och vem som är mat, medan man tar ordern är grundläggande. Det var en rolig kväll, med i stort sett exakt vad du bad om.

Underbar gammal - skola italiensk familj restaurang. Servitörer i smoking som är mycket uppmärksam. Maten är utsökt och servicen var snabb. Arancini bollar var välsmakande, inte alltför panerade. 5 eller 6 nya specialerbjudanden varje kväll. Ett bra ställe att tillbringa en kväll.

Den bästa italienska och Williamsburg Brooklyn erfarenhet man kan ha! Den rigattoni Ala vodka sås, endive / ruccolasallad och färsk fisk är ett måste tillsammans med en mycket imponerande vinlista. Service bortom jämföra och Nicole är alltid den mest nådiga värdinnan!

Mycket trevlig gammaldags italiensk atmosfär, uppmärksam servitörer uppklädda, maten var bra. Typisk förrätt var $ 25 - $ 30 Läcker tiramisu

Denna NY-institution serverar solid gammal skola "röd sås" italiensk mat. Att gå in i denna fog i hjärtat av Williamsburg är som att kliva in i en tidsmaskin och transportera tillbaka till en vintage Martin Scorsese-film. Det verkar inte som om dekoren har berörts sedan 50-talet eller 60-talet (ner till vintage-cigarettmaskinen i barområdet). Maten var god, men servicen och atmosfären var tillräckligt skäl för att kolla in denna plats. Vi har haft de bakade musslorna att starta. Vinnande förrätter var griskotlettparm och den hemlagade ravioli i röd sås (mer som små kuddar fyllda med läcker ost). Tiramisu och chokladmousse var det bästa vi åt - riktiga standouts. Tjänsten var första klass hela vägen (vänlig och professionell). Vår servitör, Silvio, äldrade oss med berättelser om hans 40 års tjänstgöring på Bamontes, medan han effektivt svarade på våra behov. Det är inte billigt, men du kan inte köpa den här typen av upplevelser på många ställen längre. Definitivt värt pilgrimsfärdet till detta ärade italienska mekka.

Fyra av oss åkte hit till middag i slutet av januari 2020. Det är en äkta italiensk restaurang i Brooklyn och hade en riktigt bra måltid här. En verkligt äkta italiensk restaurang.
Jag kommer tillbaka här på mitt nästa besök i NY om några månader.

Firar min födelsedag på Bamonte's, Sopran's och Gothams restaurang. Bokade när du kommer tillbaka till New York. Det är spännande. Och maten är mycket bra.

Bamonte's, som ligger på en sidogata i Williamsburg-delen av Brooklyn, öppnade 1900 och de påstår sig vara den äldsta italienska restaurangen i New York City. De har gjort mycket lite för att uppdatera inredningen men det är det som gör den här restaurangen kul. De är väldigt gamla skolor. Inget kranöl serveras. Soda- och ölflaskor tas med till ditt bord. Ingen bakgrundsmusik spelas. Servitörer bär tuxedos. Och maten är utmärkt. De bakade musslorna och den hemlagade ravioli var enastående. Andra medlemmar av mitt parti hade en fläskkotlett parmesan, gnocchi och stekt bläckfisk. Alla var utmärkta och enorma portioner.

Vi anlände till en restaurang med höga förväntningar. Fortfarande - en av de äldsta restaurangerna i New York, och den första italienska.
Maten var dock mycket medioker, pastan tillagades inte ordentligt i alla rätter vi beställde, och priset på skålen var relativt dyrt.
Stämningen var mycket trevlig och personalen var trevlig.
