Delicious oysters, good food as expected for a place like this— staff were fast, but service was a bit slow, and more so when it got busy, but really enjoyed the morning right as it opened, when the place was still quiet. The crowds build up fast though, so keep that in mind.
Cozy atmosphere, plenty of choices for oysters, conveniently situated and easy to find under Grand Central. Great for a lunch meeting situation.

Food overall was quite mid. One thing to note was that the salad was decent. The prawn was plump and had a bouncy, tasty texture to it.

The New England clam chowder was quite salty and honestly, it tasted very similar to a canned clam chowder from the grocery store.

For the stores most popular item, the oyster pan roast, it tasted exactly the same as the clam chowder but less salty. It had 3 oysters in it and honestly, the meal felt too creamy when both the New England clam chowder and the pan roast are ordered. The pan roast didn’t taste like anything special and didn’t have a good wow factor to me.

Moving onto the service, our server didn’t seem very attentive. We got our water filled maybe 2 times throughout the whole meal and we were left with no water quite often.

Overall, it seemed like Grand Central Oyster Bar is a place with a great atmosphere, though it really fits the needs of a tourist which is a nice vibe and cool location. Wouldn’t fully recommend the food.

Slow down and try this place. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Lively place with great options and patience to waiter who was happy to help. Id always wanted to eat there but never took the time. I took that train every day for 3 years and walked right past. So glad we tried it. Oyster selection was amazing. Lobster Excellent. New England clam chowder perfect without any additional seasoning. Calamari really good. Octopus appetizer with risotto was really special. Linguini with shrimp was great. Loved our waiter. A real professional. Will go back. Thanks.

September 2024:Several years ago we had an incredible dinner here, but for some reason it did not quite live up to the memories. The New England clam chowder was good but not great. Last time I loved the Washington State oysters. They had three varieties of them here on this visit, they definitely had a distinct flavor from New England oysters but not quite the blow away flavor I remembered from last time. The service was fast and efficient, but the bench seats were so worn out that they were uncomfortable. The chairs were much better.

Located inside Grand Central
Station, the gateway to Manhattan, the legendary oyster bar 'Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant' boasts over 100 years of history. Although there is a branch in Japan, I finally made it to the original. From opening to closing, the place is always bustling with energy. As for the oysters, no words are needed. They were absolutely delicious!! We even tried raw clams for the first time, and they were incredible!

The interior, with its extensive use of tiles, exudes the charm of old-school America. To top it off, the spaghetti alle vongole was amazing too. I left with a full stomach and total satisfaction.

Denna plats är en original NYC Treasure som inte får missas. Atmosfären ensam tar dig tillbaka i tiden! Jag brukade besöka New York med några års mellanrum med början på 60-talet med min familj. Vårt första stopp var ALLTID GC Oyster Bar. Vi skulle sitta vid disken där samma herre jag minns från 60-talet som gjorde soppor och grytor fortfarande jobbade där 2018! Inte bara är maten mycket respektabel, men atmosfären och Servicen är fantastisk. Jag ÄLSKAR också träpanel bar i ryggen. Längtar efter att besöka snart.

Alla som har möjlighet att åka dit borde göra det. Bara arkitekturen är värd det. Maten och Servicen var utmärkt. Så många råa ostronval.

Kallas in en riktigt varm dag utan reservation , för två , vi satt omedelbart i en mycket bekväm bar område . 
Så fort vi satte oss ner servern gav oss mycket välkomna glas isvatten. 
Vi hade den mest utsökta jumbo räkor
 cocktail till att börja med följt av stora portioner riktigt bra fish and chips. 
Räkningen kom till en mycket rimlig $ 100 eller så, plus dricks. 
Maten och Servicen var fantastisk.

Även om jag var glad att besöka här på grund av läget och vara en älskare av skaldjur, det var inte värt vad som skulle komma härnäst. Inom 4 timmar efter att ha ätit här och inte ätit något annat var jag sjuk. Jag åt en blandning av ostron och hummerkaka. Det kan tyckas som en bra idé att äta här på grand centralstationen men var definitivt inte värt det, särskilt som min resa hem var följande dag!

Drycker är överskattade, de är fyllda med 80 % is och musslor hade sand i sig. Min pappa var glad att komma hit efter årtionden, men vi lämnade strax efter, besviken. Skulle inte rekommendera.

Inte vänlig, mycket mekanisk service 

Det är halvtomt , de klämmer fortfarande in oss två i ett litet bord för två trots att vi beställer så mycket mat att det inte passar . (Vår faktura är vanligtvis över 200 dollar lätt ) 
Det är hovmästaren som är problemet...

Kanske den mest över - hypade plats i NYC. Det här stället har passerat sin höjdpunkt. Det är ständigt över - trångt. På vårt besök, trots att det var tidigt och en kall regnig dag, var det extremt varmt inne. Det var också mycket högt. Det var omöjligt att prata med de andra gästerna vid vårt bord. Vi satt i över 30 minuter innan de ens tog emot vår drinkbeställning och det tog över en timme innan vi fick vår mat. 

Maten var ok men vi hade mycket bättre ostron på ett slumpmässigt ställe upstate dagen innan. Flera av ostronen var väldigt gryniga. 

Förmodligen den enda ljusa punkten var att servitörerna var mycket uppmärksam och älskvärd. 

Levde inte upp till hypen.

Min partner och jag doppade i för en kaffe innan vårt tåg, och jag frågade hovmästaren om det var okej att bara ta en snabb kaffe och var man ska sitta om så är fallet. Han tittade förbi mig, lyfte knappt en arm och pekade på baren. 

Barkyparen, på frågan om kaffe, snappade ”ingen mat” och när han svarade himlade han med ögonen, hånade oss och gick till sin kollega och stönade om oss. 
När han kom med notan, och fick ett kort, frågade 'du har inte pengar bara för en kaffe?' och tuttade på oss. 

Helt chockerande service för en sådan hög profil läge. Om anläggningen kräver minimala utgifter bör detta anges på energi för att undvika att misshandla resenärer som redan är stressade av sina resor!

Detta är en av mina favorit NYC restauranger. Jag såg VERKLIGEN fram emot att äta där idag. Jag brukar beställa ostron men det var ett speciellt tillfälle så jag bestämde mig för att splurge och få hummerrullen ($ 43. 95 ) . Jag blev mycket besviken. Den var laddad med lök. Jag har ätit mycket New England hummerrullar och har aldrig ätit en med lök. Dessutom var hummerköttet strimlat. Det fanns bara 2 eller 3 bitar hummer. Det var verkligen inte en $ 43. 95 måltid. Kyparen frågade aldrig hur det var så jag brydde mig inte om att dela mitt missnöje med någon. Nyckeln lime paj ($ 12 . 50 ) var bra men vi var tvungna att be två gånger för att få kaffe. Jag börjar med maten - Queenscup och Irish Point ostron är goda. Jag beställde dock en av dagens specialiteter - havsabborren - och den var inte tillagad. Som om den inte var tillagad. Se bifogat foto.

Servern sa att han skulle se vad han kunde göra ”eftersom köket slutar göra.” Detta var vid 745 pm, så det är imponerande om det är sant. Han tog med sig ett par kakor, så det uppskattades också. 
Gör med informationen vad du vill. Min åsikt är att det finns bättre platser på andra ställen.

Läget är underbart tyvärr tjänsten är fruktansvärd. Restaurangen är enorm och är så högljudd att du inte kan ha en konversation med personen du satt mittemot utan att skrika. 
Vår Kypare var inte uppmärksam fick oss att känna att vi var en olägenhet för honom. Han kunde inte ta en enkel drinkbeställning och blev arg och avvisande när vi ifrågasatte den. 
Vi presenterades räkningen, han tog mitt kort, tog betalningen som omedelbart visades på min telefon. Han gav mig sedan kvittot och sa inget mer. Jag tog alla kvitton då han kom och frågade hur mycket han betalade. Han hade redan tagit min betalning, hade han tagit kortmaskinen till mig innan jag tog betalningen skulle jag ha övervägt att ge ett litet tips till den andra personalen (inte vår servitör). Men han blev snabbt aggressiv och skrek mig i ansiktet. Han undrade varför jag inte lämnade dricks, man måste förtjäna dricks - dålig service = ingen dricks.

Vi delade på friterad ostronförrätt och åt ett par råa ostron var. Det var en bra upplevelse att se byggnaden sitta vid disken, maten lever inte upp till förväntningarna. Damen som serverar var uppmärksam och vänlig. 
Ungefär 3 timmar efter besöket var min fru mycket sjuk, det kan vara en tillfällighet men ostronet är huvudmisstänkt.

Ostronen var intetsägande och små. 
Kombinationen (räkor, pilgrimsmusslor, hummer, musslor... etc) pan - rostade ($ 27 . 95 ) var täckt av en gränsfall illamående över - gräddsås och du hade ingen aning om vad som var vad. Det såg ut som en. ursäkta uttrycket, en skål med klumpiga spyor utan någon märkbar smak alls. The Baked Clams Casino ($ 21 . 95 ) var dock bra. Åtföljd av en läsk och en kaffe totalräkning var $ 105 med dricks. Skandalöst.

Denna restaurang är utomordentligt medioker. Vår service var helt underbar men maten är subpar i bästa fall. Vi hade ostron Rockefeller som förrätt vilket var bra, men inget speciellt. 25 dollar för 6 ostron och spenat till ostron förhållandet var sorgligt. Både jag och min man fick hummerrullen till vår vanliga mat. Pommes fritesen var goda och superkrispiga men hummerrullen var smaklös. En lagom portion och hummern var självklart färsk och inte fiskig, men det fanns bara ingen smak. När du åt hummerrullen smakade det bokstavligen som om du åt bröd. Undersaltad, underkryddad, och ärligt talat bara inte bra. Koleslawen var helt hemsk. Torrt och smaklöst också. Om vi var på en annan restaurang med sämre service hade vi klagat på hummerrullen men vår server var så trevlig att vi bestämde oss för att inte säga något. Jag tycker att tjänsten är bra men maten är inte, särskilt för hur dyr maten är. Även badrummen är i bifogade saloon och de är motbjudande. Ser ut som ett badrum som skulle vara på en strippklubb i gettot. Avskyvärda läppformade soffor och rosa dörrar och fruktansvärt smutsiga.
