I recently dined at Ovest Pizzoteca and Bar, and I have to say, it was a truly unsettling experience. While I had high hopes for the food and atmosphere, my meal was completely ruined when I spotted a roach crawling along the bar right next to our food and drinks.
While the staff tried to address the situation kindly, their efforts fell short. Unfortunately, the roach ended up on our food!

To make matters worse, we were still charged for the meal, and the only compensation offered was a meager $20 discount. Given the circumstances, this felt utterly inadequate. A restaurant should prioritize cleanliness and customer satisfaction, and this experience highlighted a serious lack of both.

I left feeling frustrated and grossed out. Where we didn’t even feel comfortable finishing our drinks. I won't be returning, and I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Ovest Pizzateca to think twice. There are far better options out there that prioritize hygiene and customer care.

We went in at 6 pm on a Thursday night for a quick bite before the Sleep no more show across the street. Ambience and service was really nice, open bar and see the brick oven towards the back of the restaurant. The food was average, the Capriccosa pizza had a pretty soft crest. My favorite was the chili olive oil, fragant and spicy, I enjoyed it a lot with the crest.  My partner's favorite was the free bread. (He finished all) And we both agreed the meatballs reminded us of subway meatballs. Quick service!

Pizza was really good! Can’t compare it to other nyc pizza places as this was my first time having pizza in the city. Gnocchi platter was really nice as well. Service was off a bit: the waiter told us we could only sit by the bar/stool area and not a booth (that was available!) meanwhile the restaurant continued to empty while we ate and we were the only people seated in our area. Not sure if I would recommend

The pizza was very ordinary. The red sauce is missing the sweetness one typically finds in NYC pizza. Doesn't have good undercarriage, could be baked just a tad bit longer. Caesar salad was fresh.
