I've just got to comment on the cheese steak I ordered last week for lunch (end of August) with all the toppings: Peppers, fried onions, pizza sauce (added upon request), provolone (of course)...and it was probably the best spicy cheese steak I've ever had in Philly, which is amazeballs considering I'm a native and have eaten at like every well-known cheese steak emporium in the city and branches of Philly cheese steak chains elsewhere. My Phillies Cap is off to the Bala chef. Too bad I didn't take a picture but such perfection is best left to words and a live experience.

Beautiful course and grounds. Service in the clubhouse and event spaces/dinning room are all very friendly and efficient. I have been here for two golf outing events and each time it was a great experience. I can't speak to the challenge or quality of the course if being played through with any seriousness. I am beyond an amateur and was mostly just hitting balls for fun and not keeping score as it was a charity event. But the course grounds are well maintained and we had no issue playing through (other than uncooperative weather: wind). If you are looking for an event venue then look no further.

Very nice golf course very well maintained. The staff made us feel very welcome. The area is very safe with lots to do. Very family-friendly lots of restaurants and things to do. Keep up the good work. Five stars all the way will be back again.

To walk through these beautiful doors amongst these rolling hills let you know that you have arrived. It is also proof that God is pleased with all of your efforts and caretaking for the world we live in for you must be blessed to be here. Everything about this place is without compromise. From the level of service to the manicured fairways and down to the very golf carts themselves this is what doing something right looks like. If you come here you will be amongst equally blessed friends who take great pride in their abilities and you will be among Philadelphia's finest. I love the Bala Golf Club. The course is only 5403 yards with a par of 68. Does that sound easy? No. The 1901 Wm. Flynn design has small greens. It requires strategy and shot making skills on every hole. It is a fun course to play with at least a little bit of everything. The tight layout makes this a great course for walking. The health and weight loss benefits are important to me. The biggest weakness at the Bala is the sparse 100+ yards driving range. But they open up the only par 5 for driving practice 3 days a week in the evening. The management is friendly and strong under Chris Barletta, Head Pro and GM. His second, Ben Lesniak is my favorite golf instructor. The greens department is fine with many long-term employees. The golf course is consistently in good shape. Volunteer governance by the Board is steady. The locker rooms were recently updated to accommodate women golfers. An investment whose wisdom remains to be seen. A great feature are the mens showers that deliver a deluge so strong they are now illegal to create. The food at the Bala is very good quality. The grill room has a 2-page menu and there is a fine dining room. There is also a large hall for up to 200. The food, service and view are very nice. There is also a lot of bridge played by non-golfers. The location of the course is very convenient for residents of Center City and the near Main Line. The membership is largely Jewish but becoming more diverse. There is generally a warmth to the membership experience and a dedication to the club out of love for the Bala. There are a lot of older members who don't play golf well or often. So getting a tee time is not a problem. There is a league for men and women and golf events scheduled throughout the year. Unlike other nearby clubs you don't need to already know members. There is no initiation fee and the annual price is right at under a maximum of $6,000, less for younger adults and other categories. They do nickle and dime you for carts and events, but so does almost everywhere else. And if you seek glory, the 5-time club champion is a 7 handicap.

Terrific course....one of the historic ones in the area. Real nice staff. i played with my son who recently joined as a young member. He loves the place....the course, the food, and the staff. I can see why....what a nice club. Very challenging....but very fun....course. So beautiful and well maintained.

Great little course. There are no wide open fairways, no giant greens, no chances to swing for the fences in this little gem. This course demands a precise tee ball and an accurate 2nd shot to score. The tees are mostly immaculate, some of the blue tee locations could use some leveling but this place is immaculate. Everything from the fairways and rough to the bunkers and greens were in fantastic shape. Greens aren't lightening but they play properly fast downhill and are in such good shape it ridiculous. Does anyone hit these little guys!!??? It's short but the driver doesn't really come out of the bag because of the necessity for an accurate tee ball. Can't wait for my next round!

Had our high school reunion at Bala Golf Club. The staff was great as was the venue. The food was very good as we're the drinks. It was also very affordable. I would definately use this place again.
