Excellent dishes, more a place for dinner, salads, Toasties and Indian butter chicken. Best beef pie ! Also the desserts are home made and excellent. Good service! Highly recommend

I enjoyed a gin and tea for 2 as a late birthday present here, and it was an all-around lovely experience. The service was great and the food was delicious. You can tell attention has been put into every item. The drinks were also great, with some unique options.
Recommend it for a special occasion.

I was gifted a scotch experience for an anniversary present and it didn’t disappoint. James was an excellent host who was knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed sampling and learning about a wide range of Scotches from the different regions.
We also enjoyed canapés and dinner, with all of the food being delicious and well presented. Also, the cocktail selection is excellent.
The decor and atmosphere has been well crafted, giving a relaxed and intimate vibe.
The staff were all helpful and friendly, thanks for the great service Hugo, Christian & James!
We look forward to returning to try the tequila experience, or the Duck & Pinot night!

As a self-proclaimed whisky amateur, I was a gifted Japanese whisky-tasting class here to expand my palate of knowledge.
The Fox Hole is a tidy, intimate bar, where my partner and I sat for a cocktail from the extensive list before the tasting experience, where the staff said they would grab us when they were ready. My partner, although a non-participant, was invited to sit with us to at least enjoy the atmosphere of the tasting, a there were only two other guests.
The space at a squeeze could hold maybe eight comfortably, which I feel is big enough to emphasise the personable experience that it was.
The host was knowledgeable, engaging, and thorough with his information. He was interactive and educational without prompting people to what they should experience with their tasting. We covered six whiskies in total, ranging in flavour, intensity, history, age, and price (though price never spoken of), and some whiskies came with snacks to compliment the flavours.

Would certainly do this again.

The only feedback I have, which was based purely on aesthetics, was that most of the bottles used during the experience were well-used. I understand that as a working bar, they're going to get used; however, to then display them at the front as the session progressed just didn't please the eye. I have also looked at maybe a card at the end with information, etc, on the whiskies for us to research in our own time.

Staff overall at the venue were lovely, polite, interactive, and would visit again.
After the experience, my partner and I stayed for dinner. We got the wild mushroom arancini balls, posh sausage rolls, butter chicken, and flaky pasty been burgundy pie.

Admittedly, the entrees set a standard the mains couldn't meet, as the mash and gravy resembled more of a soup, leaving my not-so-flaky pastry chillin like a jellyfish in the middle. The butter chicken ( the most popular dish according to staff ) had a good flavour and portion size but also failed to meet the standards and presentation set by the entrees.

Cocktails were extensive, enjoyable and well presented. Nice little spot.

Not a bad place to come to for drinks and some food. Most of the dishes are average so I would definitely recommend this place for more drinks.

My friend and I were having a wonderful afternoon tea. The food was delicious and the gin cocktails divine. Then disaster struck when our food tray was accidentally knocked off the table while I was trying to take a selfie. I felt so embarrassed and sorry as I thought we wouldn't get to try the delicious looking sweets which were still left on the tray. The staff were fantastic. The young manager, Aran (I think that's his name) promptly moved us to another table while he cleaned up and even replaced the sweets and despite me offering to pay for them they replaced them without extra charge. Fantastic customer service. He restored our afternoon and we came away feeling we had a very positive experience despite what happened because he managed the situation so well. Thank you so much. We highly recommend this place for the experience of Gin and Tea and for its great customer service. I definitely would like to return with a few more friends and experience more of this cosy fun place.

We booked for a 5 course degustation and I was expecting all that goes with that, given the price range. However, we waited 4minutes for the first course to arrive.. While tasty, I really couldn't see what the wait was for though. The staff, while friendly were not very attentive in my opinion and we hardly saw our host. I felt rather neglected and disappointed by the whole experience, especially how hyped it was and our previous experience at the FoxHole. I felt really let down and extremely disappointed. Honestly I don't think I will come here again and anyone considering eating here should be warned. You can honestly get better food and better service elsewhere considering the money you have to fork out at this place. I definitely do NOT recommend coming here!! It's been over an hour sine we've been seated and still not had the 2nd course ! This absolutely unacceptable. The gin is underwhelming and the food lacking. An hour and 15mins into service there is hardly any food to be seen on any of the tables around us, in fact no food to be seen on any of the tables. Shocking, just shocking. Two hours into service we have had 3 small dishes, which we had to share! I honestly am sooooo disappointed I can't express how much. Please do yourself a favour, do not waste your time or money on this overpriced shit hole!

One of the best things about the Fox Hole is that they don't leave people with food requirements as an afterthought. I'm a vegetarian and really appreciate that as much thought and care goes into our food as for any other items on the menu. As a result, I can be sure it is going to be delicious and well balanced whenever I go there. Strongly recommend gin nights, and brunches.

I guess the fact that this place has a basement bar is a really good reason to refer to it as 'The Fox Hole'. Mind you, they also have an upstairs area as well and I only ended up going downstairs when looking for the restrooms. However, this place wasn't too bad, though it wasn't one of the best bars in the CBD. The staff were nice, and they had a good selection of beers as well, though it does get pretty crowded at times.

This is a pretty nice place for a coffee. It is a corner shop and is one of a few bars that capture workers on their way home for a drink. We were here doing it the other way around as we were trying to kill time before another bar opened for happy hour. The coffee was good and so were the olives and spiced nuts. Downstairs seemed to have more than their fair share of noisy females. On the entrance level there were two large windows to watch the world go by. On the Kent St side you can watch the bicycle riders take their risks on various two wheelers.

Keeping this review short and sweet. It's my place to go for a coffee and sourdough toast with any spread for, wait for it........$4.50!!! What a great deal in the city with cool hipsters working behind the counter. Coffee here is smooth and has nice nutty after taste. Ask for a double shot if you like your coffee stronger.

Suggested this place for after work drinks after I read the reviews. Its a cool tiny little bar, that is really a "foxhole." They have cute little benches and a cool atmosphere. The bar menu is a bit limiting, they only really have wines and beers and random food - sharing plate and dumplings. The staff is really friendly, good place for a few drinks.

The perfect CBD lunch spot! Fox hole small bar is located on erskine street and serves dumplings and pork buns in a relaxed and bright setting. We went for the two person banquet which for $25 each gets you edamame, pork buns, mixed dumplings (7 each!) and a drink. They happened to be out of edamame and instead offered us an extra glass of wine - what a great deal! The only reason Fox Hole is not getting a 5 is that the food was a little slow to come out. However I highly recommend this place and on Tuesday's they serve up $1 dumplings.

Can't believe I haven't been to this place before! A long established Cafe downstairs, that has since acquired the upstairs space, has turned itself into a great small bar. Greeted upon arrival, the bar manager was friendly and knowledgeable steering us through the menu and on a little food adventure. Their menu is different from most small bars, with a super selection of dumplings alongside some typical sharing plates. I was however, VERY impressed with the pricing!!! A solid point of difference that will have me going back! Decor was well done, dark wood floors, great looking bar and monthly rotating art showcasing a different artist, keeping the decor fresh and always interesting. Live music will be staring up soon also, so keep an eye out for that one!
