We had a wonderful experience at Ortega Fish Shack. Sat at the bar and were entertained by Max the bartender, other servers and customers next to us. Every dish was fresh, tasty, and professionally prepared and plated. We really enjoyed their wine list and helpful descriptions. The ambiance, service and quality were all top notch, making for a memorable evening!

This was one of the best meals we had on our New Zealand trip! Incredible fresh seafood and wonderful wine menu. Do yourself a favor and get the teeny-weeny fish sandwich! It was a standout and really unique. Every single dish was got was incredible and the service was impeccable. Can’t wait to come back on our next visit!

Kim is the staff of the year, one of the best service I have got since I came to Wellington, she is very considerate and helped me a lot with my booking, there is also a male server who wears glasses and middle parting hair, he is good too (Just forgot to give me water, but it is understandable because of a lot of customers), and another server who taught me how to eat oyseter properly, thank you :)
The main is definitely great, plate is big so in photo it looks small, but you will be pretty full after finish it, the sauce of appetiser is a bit too sour, but it is appetiser, so understandable.
The desert sweetness level is well done, neither too sweet nor to plain.

Absolutely amazing staff and amazing food, special shoutout to Jordan who gave us one of the most pleasant dining experiences we’ve ever had.

My partner took me here for a belated birthday dinner as we had a passing in the family two days before my actual birthday.

At only the mention that we were celebrating my birthday, Jordan brought out a second helping of the crepes with a candle in it free of charge. This gesture really meant a lot to me after the month we’ve had. Along with great chat and super friendly vibes, she really did make our whole night.

I never write Google reviews but I felt inclined to after our experience.

10/10 will definitely be back
