Loved my stay here, the atmosphere was always on the high. The staff was great and helpful even after I already checked out. Especially Ana, she stayed after her shift to help me (i had a problem with my phone). So, definitely coming back!

What a Banger Hostel!

Absolutely loved my stay here! The vibe at this hostel is incredible – super chill and filled with cool, friendly people. Every evening, there was the option to party and meet others, but the location itself is in a relatively quiet area, so you can easily relax when you want.

There are tons of amazing restaurants nearby, which made exploring the local food scene so easy. But the real highlight? The staff – especially Anna! She went above and beyond to help us, spending over 30 minutes assisting us with setting up an internet plan. And not just once, but twice! Super friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful.

If you’re looking for a fun yet laid-back place with great people and outstanding service, this is it! Can’t recommend it enough.

The staff there are amazing,  especially the unforgettable and kind Jordana who was ready to deal with anything. There are two or three activities organised every single day - boat party, hiking, city tours, market trips, carnival parties, favela parties, beach days, yoga classes. good bar and restaurant which was super convenient, with cheap prices and good food and drinks. Location just 50m from the beach. rooms are small and compact, but kept clean with service three times per day. Rooms were a bit noisy some nights due to the people returning in the early hours of the morning after partying but that’s expected in a hostel and depends on who is in the dorm. overall a brilliant experience

- no communal toilets on the floors
- dirty beds
- very very small rooms. Nowhere to put your stuff. I basically had to crawl in the bed of the person below me to get in my locker.
- you have to make your own bed. I stayed 5 nights and seen 4 people just not bother making their bed and which is quite unsanitary considering the amount of people that stay there.
- mouldy mattresses
- the two stars is because staff is friendly and bar is nice and good location
- would pay max 8€ per night here (if breakfast was included)

JUST BOOK IT!! TRUST ME!! Staying at El Misti Hostel in Rio de Janeiro was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all of my expectations! From the cozy accommodations to the incredible location and the vibrant atmosphere, everything about this place made my trip extra special.

Accommodation
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged, providing the perfect space to relax after a day of exploring. Whether you're staying in a dorm or a private room, El Misti ensures a pleasant and hassle-free stay. The common areas were lively yet cozy, offering plenty of opportunities to meet new people or just kick back.

Location
The hostel’s location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Rio, with easy access to Copacabana Beach, Ipanema, and nearby metro stations. Everything you could want to see in Rio feels like it's just a stone’s throw away, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing.

People and Atmosphere
What really made El Misti Hostel stand out was the amazing sense of community. Everyone was so open and friendly, creating an atmosphere where it was easy to connect with fellow travelers from all over the world. My boyfriend and I met some wonderful people, and the events organized by the hostel, like group dinners and tours, made it even more fun.

I have to give a huge shoutout to Ana, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Her sweetness and kindness were unmatched—she truly felt like a friend by the end of our trip. Ana was always there with a smile, ready to help with anything we needed, from recommendations to arranging activities. She even helped my boyfriend and me with a few last-minute plans, ensuring everything went smoothly. Ana, you’re an absolute gem, and we’re so grateful for everything you did for us!
