Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is just a fantastic place to visit. The mix of modern art, beautiful architecture, and the sea views makes it really special. The exhibitions are always interesting, and just walking around the gardens and sculpture park is worth it. It’s one of those places you leave feeling better than when you arrived.

Rothko Chapel

The iconic Rothko Chapel isn’t just a chapel, it’s a major work of modern art. Inside you’ll find paintings by Rothko. Visiting here was a spiritual experience, because the art and atmosphere were so moving.

Hotel ZaZa Houston Museum District

Our stay was 10/10 - perfectly located, amazing staff and nicely decorated hotel! The hotel offers a chauffer service with true-to-Texas cars (see photo).

Restaurant and Bakery Levain

Went here for brunch and the food was really good!

Hietaniemi cemetery

Enormous and beautiful cemetery where many prominent people are buried including CG Mannheimer and all of Finland’s deceased presidents.

Café Metsäpaahtimo

Cafe by the water in an old insane asylum!

Old Market Hall

Bought takeaway lunch from the Old Market Hall, had the rye bread with gravlax and rose pepper. Nice place to try out different Finnish traditional foods.

Art Museum Ateneum

Ateneum has the largest collection of classical art in Finland, and is one of the three museums forming the Finnish National Gallery. Fantastic exhibitions in addition to the permanent collection.

Murun Viinibaari

According to our wine enthusiast friend, this is the best wine bar for wine lovers in Helsinki. They let you try wines by the glass (small medium or large) and even offer Coravin (when you pour wine without uncorking the bottle), which is a great way to try super expensive wines without paying for an entire bottle. Staff was super knowledgeable also.

Hotel Haven

Chic hotel in central Helsinki, around the corner from the Esplanade park and the harbor. Rooms are stocked with Byredo products.
