We went to the other branch last time and sat at the counter which was a totally diff experience.  However some of the dishes served were the same and although we were happy sitting in the private room and have very nice service, we found that we appreciated the last time’s experience a whole lot kore.  Particularly the uni this time was off, doesn’t taste right.  Having said that the crab was super fresh and was very good.

The food and chef’s service were very good, except for the front old lady who was giving a lot of attitude.

We reserved two extra-large hairy crabs, but on the appointment date, we were told only one was available, and we had to change the other one to a snow crab. The store staff told us they were very sorry and said the sake would be on the house to make up for the mistake. So we ordered one sake, but it ended up appearing on our bill, as the lady said it was never meant to be a treat for us; he was just recommending good sake without even checking with the staff.

Also, be aware of the 10% mandatory service charge, which never appears on their official site or the TableCheck page where I reserved the restaurant. It is understandable that they might charge foreigners a bit more to provide English service, but the service we received was entirely in Japanese from start to finish, we didn’t ask for a English service at all.

Really wanted to end my 🇯🇵 trip on a high and it's safe to say this one Michelin star restaurant let us do exactly that!

First things first, we were seated in our own private dining booth which was a whole experience in itself! We had our own personal chef for the evening who actually prepared and cooked the live crab right in front of us at our table.

We indulged in the live hairy crab course which is priced at a whopping ¥35,000 yen per person. As you can see for yourselves in the video, the crabs are absolutely HUGE and you get one whole crab each!

It gets served in various forms throughout the course starting with sashimi, to shabu shabu, to chargrilled and to tempura! You then get an entire bowl of shredded crab meat and roe which you eat teishoku style. It's safe to say that each and every bite throughout this course was a total flavour bomb of pure seafood delight.

We also got an add-on of uni which costed us ¥10,000 for half a tray. This was truly sensational and my perspective on uni has completely shifted since this very day lol. It was so unbelievably fresh - just pure melt in your mouth goodness ✨

Now for the million dollar question - do I think it was worth the price tag? Absolutely in my opinion! It is such a unique experience that I think is worth trying at least once in your life and I'm super glad I got to tick this one off my bucket list.

A fantastic dinner in Ginza. That's why Ginza Kitafuku is well deserving for the honor of Michelin 1 Star!!! The chef showed us the 2.5kg Hokkaido King crab before cooking. Different cooking styles were shown in front of us, including appetizer, sashimi, shabu shabu, bbq crab & deep fried crab meat ball. The crab brown meat was served together with the crab shell which was super yum! We've ordered an extra box of sea urchin which was fabulous.
Apart from the King crab and sea urchin, the hokkigai rice was another bright spot. We ate up all even though we've been full! The dessert, milk pudding with melon, cantaloupe and sour jelly,  was so refreshing and served for a perfect ending of the dinner!!!! Highly recommended Kitafuku to you!!!

The best crab meal I've ever had. It was a King Crab from Hokkaido and it was around 2.2 kg.

It was my first time trying crab sashimi and it was amazing; they have different sets whereby you could choose the combinations that you prefer.

The chef will prepare the crabs in front of you and it's the freshest stage that you could ever taste. I wish that I could communicate more with the chef to understand the stories behind.

Reservation is required as there were only 3 rooms in this restaurant. Highly recommend if you're a crab lover.
