Forget all you know about fine pastry and good service - as they are both redefined here at Flour and Stone. Here the quality of the products and surpassed by the outstanding customer service of the staff - they place special effort into their service so that you feel very special indeed.
The fine pastry is magnificent and is unrivaled by miles. This place is in a league of its own - I don’t mind paying an above average price for an exceptional product and service. They care about your experience. They remember you if you return. Their food is remarkable and exquisite. You have to try it.

Looked soooo good but taste didn’t live up to the look.

It’s more sweet than sour and more sugary than lemony, which was not what I had expected. If you prefer sweeter lemon cakes this might be suited to you.

Also a bit gross but maybe from being displayed out the entire day, if you zoom into the photo you will be able to see the icing on top covered with hair, dust, specks of black?? And it was just really off putting…

Best lamington I’ve had in Sydney. The ratio of frosting, jam, and cake was perfect. The sponge was moist, and there were larger coconut shavings around the cake if you like to have extra, which I do. Their lemon cake was delicious as well; I wish the sponge was a little moister on that one like the lamington, but I’m still happy with my choice. The service was great. The worker warmed up my crumpet and put butter and honey on it while I had the sweets to go. The honey was amazing. Ask for extra. ;)

Got a quick takeaway breakfast as our last hurrah before a 1pm flight. So glad we made this decision.

We ordered the chocolate, rasp & buttermilk and the strawberry & rosemary brûlée tart. The bakes were very reasonably priced (especially for Sydney prices) and the flavours and textures were on point. As someone who loves a good creme brûlée and a good pastry, I appreciated that the brûlée was crunchy and not soggy, that the pastry was crispy and again not soggy, and that the custard had a balanced flavour.

Didn’t order their cakes since we didn’t have space, but definitely wanted to try.

Would definitely visit again for their bakes.

Went around 1.40pm and there still were people lining up. We managed to get the last lamington, and it was so moist, and the jam inside was delicious (personally not a fan of the usual lamington). Pain au chocolat was huge, and the bread was crispy outside and buttery inside. Not cheap but worth trying when nearby!

There are actually two Flour and Stone one is a restaurant and the other is the Annexe where they sell cakes and other sweets. They are separated by entry way to some business or residences. I went specifically to the Annexe and service was fairly quick even though there was a line. Apparently this spot is viral on social media and I can see why. I got a Lamington and it's quite larger. I'm not Australian but it tastes a bit different from the store bought lamingtons I've eaten before. If I ever go back to Sydney I would definitely go back to check out a different cake. The inside is decorated nicely and feels like a nice bakery. I saw people buy a variety of baked goods

The lamington is amazing!!!! Our order taker was very chipper and filled with info about the baked goods. There was a short line that moved quickly. There is no seating at the take away location. They also have a sit down location.

Unique and delicious. Worthwhile to come in and try something different from the norm at this little bakery. I want to try everything I can set my eyes on. My stomach on the other hand knows my limits. Friendly service in this boutique bakery. Put it on your list.

Quaint cafe with some awesome pastries! Really flaky onion pastry that had a nice sweetness. The sandwich was also very hearty and I really enjoyed the sauce.

Another staple dessert to try when in Sydney. Interesting flavor and more on the heavy side. Base is a butter pound cake w a berry compote and chocolate and coconut on the top. It's strong on the chocolatey coconut side so if you're not a fan of these two I wouldn't recommend. Larger than what I expected. We loved it so much we visited it twice during our week long visit to Sydney!

A Canadian, this was my first time in Australia and was craving for a meat pie as my first meal (not counting the McDonald's brekkie post-flight), so I Googled what was near Hyde Park. Luckily, Flour and Stone was in the vicinity and did not disappoint! The chicken, leek, and tarragon pie came recommended by the server and proved to be the perfect balance of rich and savoury filling and buttery and flaky crust. Interestingly, if you want to dine in, you order from the Annex two doors down then walk your tray up to the Pantry. And staff and friendly and passionate about their pastries. Definitely coming back for the rendang beef pie!

I had to get a famed lamington before leaving australia! This one didn't disappoint. I also had some super rich chocolate pie.... Perfect treat!

Sometimes long line doesn't mean great food. Maybe we didn't order the right things, but I think 3 is a pretty representative sample size. The sourdough crumpet (served with honey and cream) is rubbery with no crispiness at all. The apple tart is fine, although both filling and crust are kind of bland. The custard lamington doesn't quite work for me. I admire their creativity for doing a custard-cake hybrid. But it comes across as either a very grainy custard or a really soggy cake.

What a gem! I absolutely love everything about this place! The food, the staff, the philosophy.... They have the best croissants in Sydney, the crumpet with whipped ricotta and honey is to die for, and of course, the Lamingtons are a must!
