Having raised our expectations, Freyja failed to deliver on the promise of a ‘guided culinary experience’ with a cavalcade of different staff serving us vegetable-based dishes that no-one properly explained, asked for or enjoyed. The ONLY protein of the entire meal was an oyster and half a venison sausage. For a $200+ bill per person, I expected a lot better. The service is polite and friendly, but agonisingly slow and totally disconnected from us as guests. By the time dessert arrived, I found myself wishing that enough was enough. Time to leave.

Honestly, I can‘t speak highly enough of our delicious meals at Freyja! I‘ve told everyone I know about it and that it is a "Must visit“ when in Melbourne. Beautiful nordic inspired cuisine with an Australian touch in the Food and Wine Pairings. Do the tasting menu with the beverage pairing on the chefs counter, always get the waffles and if you can, try and fit in an extra dessert to get the full experience! Thank you so much to whole team for a wonderful night.

We had the chefs menu with drinks paring and overall every dish was nice and the standout was the duck. It was so moist and tender and cooked to perfection. The lamb tartare and Yarra valley roe was very tasty too. Service was as excellent, all the staff very knowledgeable about the wines, their origins and tasting notes paired with food. It was very noisy while we were there with big groups and struggled to hear other talk but didn’t ruin the overall experience.

Celebrated my wedding anniversary at this wonderful place! Their food was really fresh and good, had their Taste of Freyja menu and it was really amazing, each dish was explained by their staff so you get to understand what were you tasting. The restaurant even gave us 2 extra wines to cheer for our anniversary!

Went with four friends. Tried the 7 course menu. The staff was excellent, very friendly, but still professional. The food was outstanding, all starters and mains were a treat to our tastebuds. The wine-pairing was also well selected. The dessert was a bit lacking in depth compared to the other courses, but that cannot be attributed to the dessert being bad, rather the rest of the courses being otherworldly.
Overall 10/10 experience, would recommend.
