Warabi is a beautifully designed restaurant with a stunning backdrop and an intimate atmosphere. The service was outstanding, with friendly and attentive staff who made the experience very pleasant. The chefs were engaging, interactive, and even understood the importance of taking Instagram photos, which was a fun touch 😂While the food was high quality and well-presented, I found some dishes a bit underwhelming in flavour - though that could just be my own palate. Overall, it’s a great spot for the experience, but I’m not sure I’d return.

Our experience at Warabi Restaurant for Omakase was delightful. The staff were very accommodating. Chef Hajime combines modern Japanese techniques with Thai influences, creating a unique and delicious Omakase. We could have easily eaten double servings—everything was that good. Domo Arigato! 🎄I was excited to try Warabi’s weekday omakase ($185pp) during the 6 PM session on Christmas Eve, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.

🍣The entire dinner felt very rushed—we started promptly at 6 PM and were done around 7PM. With two chefs presenting dishes simultaneously, it felt chaotic. Before I could fully savor or appreciate the flavors, the next piece of sushi was already served.

Additionally, the setup made it difficult to see what the second chef was doing, which detracted from the experience.

🌟On the positive side, the ingredients were fresh, but the flavors didn’t particularly stand out. My favorite dish was the eel hand roll, which was genuinely enjoyable. As for the optional add-ons, no one from our session opted for them, as they didn’t seem enticing enough to justify the extra cost.

In comparison, I’ve had much better experiences at similar price points, such as at Ronin, which I would recommend over this. I’ve heard good things about Warabi’s weekend omakase, maybe that is something that we could consider in the future 😆

Warabi has been on my must-visit list for quite some time. I finally decided to give it a shot. I was torn between the ‘Impression’ menu at $285 pp on Fridays and Saturdays and the ‘Sushi Omakase’ option available from Tuesday to Thursday for $185. The price difference was significant, and I didn’t have much information to guide my decision, but when I saw an opening for a Saturday evening, I took the plunge.

I believe the Impression menu features more unique dishes, while the Omakase focuses on sushi. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the Impression menu, which included a variety of dishes beyond just sushi, showcasing a diverse range of flavours. The sushi itself was fresh and generously portioned.

The only minor downside was the steep price, and I found myself wishing for a bit more. Additionally, we had to wait for latecomers, which isn’t typical for an omakase experience. Usually, the meal starts at a set time, and late arrivals are served the dish that everyone else is up to. However, we had to wait for them, which pushed our meal quite late into the night.

Did some research on the omakase places in melbourne, and finally decided to try out this place.
The location of the restaurant is a bit hard to find. You will need to take the lift to the G floor of w hotel, then you will see the restaurant on your right hand side (pass through the glass door).

The interior of the restaurant is very classy, and all the staffs are very friendly.

The food quality is excellent, and all garnished perfectly.
More importantly, omakase is a set menu that reflects the philosophy of the restaurant and the interaction with the chef. I think Warabi had done it really well.

Will love to try the next season menu in the later future.🥰
