We had coffee here, standing by the bar. They tasted just average. For information, table seating here are expensive. This is understandable given the views outside. We were told it's 12 euros per person by the staff.

My experience was phenomenal!!!! Do your research, if you do, you’ll know it will be expensive. I have been to Venice 4 times and this is the first time I had ever set down to have a drink at the square, for that same reason. I went with my cousin and his wife, they leave in a town close by and even they don’t sit at the square, but we wanted to treat ourselves to a nice relaxing time and it was. There musicians were playing the wind was blowing the temperature was amazing (it was July 16th) .
So yes!! And I would do it again. 5/5 worth every centesimo

Overall, my experience at cafe Lavena was mixed. The taste of the coffee was good, which was a positive aspect of the visit. However, I was disappointed with the presentation of the coffee. The way they served the coffee was subpar and could definitely be improved.

Furthermore, one issue that arose was that they left the tray on our table after serving us. This may seem like a minor detail, but it contributes to the overall impression and experience of the cafe.

Another aspect that left a sour note was when the waiter asked for a tip to be added to our bill. I had intended to leave a tip in cash, and being asked to add it to the bill felt pushy and unnecessary.

In conclusion, while the taste of the coffee was enjoyable, the presentation could be enhanced, and the service experience, especially regarding tipping, needs to be more customer-friendly.

Do your research, everyone who visits Venice should know if you sit down in St Marks square at a restaurant it is going to be expensive, do put bad reviews just because you didn’t read the price on the menu ( that’s your fault ). Yes it is expensive. In fact it’s very expensive but it is for many a once in a lifetime experience to sit here with the band playing enjoying the sun, drinks and best ice cream desserts you would be hard pushed to find anywhere else. This place is 250 years old and still going and I’m sure it will still be there in another 250!years so they are doing something right,

Yes, it’s ludicrously expensive; but you’re paying for the atmosphere and the performative nature of the service. And, apparently, it’s in the sunniest corner of Campo San Marco. We spent a very pleasant 45 minutes out of the chilly December weather and didn’t regret it at all.
