The rooms are fine and the location is where it is.  I'm writing this review about the food and service, both of which were exceptional.

I'm lucky enough to have spend a month long vacation traveling Spain and Portugal, eating a nice places, etc... recently.  We looked for great food, opting for Michelin places, etc... during the trip.  Quite frankly, Casa Do Gadanha was one of the best places we ate... maybe the outright best.  There were only a handful of other places in the same league.  Highly recommended.

Chef/owner Ruben sources his ingredients and wines locally - the food is top notch, the wine is delicious, the plating is absolutely beautiful and creative. The ambience and decor are thoughtful and artistic. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. You won’t regret spending your time here for lunch and/or dinner, and don’t miss their impeccable tasting menu. And plan to stay at their chic yet cozy hotel on-site if you are planning more than a day trip.

Our group agrees - best meal we’ve had in Portugal! Ambiance is modern and crisp, with attention to the details. Food offers inventive, modern twists on traditional flavors. The eggplant appetizer was incredibly memorable and wine selection was off the charts. Highly recommend.

I only went to the restaurant, but did not stay. A very friendly team in an nice setting motivated me to try the 6-course degustation menu - although I was alone. The courses were varied, very tasty and to my liking. More French style than many restaurants that serve only fish and meat.

Definitely a recommendation before or after a visit of the amazing Berardo azuleijo museum - just 200m away!

Had a wonderful lunch today! The food was delicious and the dishes were ingeniously created. The service was excellent. This is a flagship of modern Portuguese cuisine, one of the best lunches we’ve had during the two years we have stayed in Portugal.
