A really special dining experience. My husband and I don’t really do Michelin star meals very often but we thought given we’re in San Seb, it was a must. Really glad we chose this place. A beautiful airy room filled with light overlooking the cathedral - perfect on a sunny day.
The service is very swift but not too swift that you can’t enjoy. The staff are knowledgeable and by the way you can wear shorts as a man (or at least for lunch anyway).
We had the market menu and felt nicely full. I do not eat meat and they kindly substituted with lovely hake instead of the pork. The fizz I chose from the menu to start with (€12 a glass- v reasonable) along with a glass of red (€10 a glass - excellent). My husband had a beer and a rose.
They guide you through the courses and the flavours, especially the sauces were full of depth. The scallop dish and final dessert was our favourite.
I would highly recommend this place if you want to have good waiter service (as the pinxos places are fun but it was nice to sit and be waitered on!) and if you don’t mind spending a little more for food that has had real thought gone into it.
It was €290 together and each of us had two drinks, a coffee each and that’s with tip. Good value we thought. Thank you Kokotxa!

Excellent one star Michelin, gorgeous room right in the lively old town, staff very nice, and dishes very pretty and tasty.

However, and this is nothing to do with the restaurant itself, I don’t think going to. Michelin restaurant in San Sebastián makes a lot of sense. There are so, so many excellent places to eat here that don’t cost nearly as much that Im not sure I’d do it again, in hindsight. Anyway something to consider.

Everything was good. Staff were attentive from start to finish. Could see that the staff trying to move fast to move through the courses but did not feel pressured at all to finish. Food was exceptionally good as expected from a Michelin starred restaurant. Did not feel pressured to purchase expensive wines but recommended to get at least a bottle of white to complement the seafood meal. Only minor hiccup was some scales found in some of the fish dishes.

We loved this lunch time visit to a beautiful San Sebastián local restaurant. Kokotxa Restaurant is our second fine dining experience overseas and it was outstanding. As the tasting menu promised local produce was elevated through sound principles to create a symphony of delightful seafood and Basque cuisine. Each serving complimenting the other and informing the whole experience. The plate ware and  cutlery were exceptionally crafted and matched each dish superbly. We enjoy every morsel and the tools provided were both aesthetically pleasing and accomplished the expected. All the dishes were a treat but special mention goes to the olive bread accompaniment, the Kokotxa dish and the pigeon. The sommelier and the wine list were a pleasure as were all the team. Both front and back of house worked seamlessly. A truly memorable experience for a 71 year old birthday boy. Gracias. My only hypercritical comment would be the playlist didn’t underpin the wonderful ambience. A more contemporary and original playlist would match the talent displayed in every other aspect of this restaurant. Pintoxs are exceptional in San Sebastián and shouldn’t be missed however a fine dining experience offers much more. Each have their place in this beautiful town.

Service was fantastic, though there were points of the service where one could've expected smoother service like drink service. Otherwise we had the tasting menu which was good and with interesting flavors, though some were definitely better than others. The tuna with pumpkin and curry was a nice dish, but the squid noodles wasn't totally it. A bit of a shame towards the end as we were celebrating a special occasion but the extra treat at the end had allergens in it, which made it a little disappointing.
