Two meals here over the course of three days. In both cases, the star was really the Jamaican jerk chicken. The other remarkable thing was the fact that this is in the Grand Colonial Hotel, which probably has the best service of any establishment (of any type) I’ve been in in a long time. Our first server truly belonged in that spirited group. The second night it was not that way.

The first night we sat on the deck overlooking the pool. Heaters kept us toasty. It was quiet and we noticed how easy it was to talk. Seated at the banquette inside (the second evening) wasn’t that bad but it was markedly different. Depending on what your evening is meant to - be choose your environment.

I am fortunate to have enjoyed Michelin starred establishments. This one is surprising. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it may be struggling to maintain that star. Order the jerk chicken or don’t bother to go! Photos of the food don’t include the olive oil cake, “half-baked” chocolate cake, nor sorbet with which we topped the meal off - all were outstanding.

Huge shout out to Jacob. This bartender can make a cocktail! Ask for what you want! He will craft a memory in a glass. It will make your evening.

Overall, a bit of a disappointing experience. We ate here for brunch with a larger party. Food was okay, but I would’ve liked more shrimp and less bread for the sandwich, though the burger was good. Service was also just average—the waitresses were friendly but several guests did not get their water refilled. We were not informed about the cake cutting fee, which came as a surprise and can quickly become expensive ($5 per slice cut).

What a delightful culinary experience, my son and I are foodies and wanted to try the chefs choice menu for a special evening of celebration. Absolutely fantastic experience, selected 2 different glass of wine and loved both of them . Service personnel and our server were all stellar! Food were not only delicious, cooked to perfection, decorated lovely ! For food lovers highly recommended the experience.

Beautifully presented and tasty food. Service is excellent.

We came here a few years ago for San Diego restaurant week. Thoroughly enjoyed it the first time, second time. And now our third.

Our server was friendly and knowledable.

Only wish the vodka martinis were better.

Fine dining is not in my usual budget, but once or twice a year I like to do a tasting menu. So when I was visiting the area with a friend we decided to splurge on a tasting menu and wine pairing. First of all the atmosphere and setting were great and we were greeted and sat quickly on the balcony at our request. We ordered an espresso martini (delicious) and let the waiter know we wanted the tasting menu and wine to go with it. Before I get into the service, the food was good - overall light and refreshing and perfect for a cool coastal vibe.

I felt like the service was mediocre and sometimes really slow. I felt like the waiter only came by to drop food off. I’m used to a little explanation of what’s on the plate and why a wine is paired with it, but didn’t get that here. I’m not sure if that’s by design, but I’ve had this experience at every other tasting I’ve done and I enjoy a little tidbit like why there was corn in every dish or what kind of fish it was. I’m also used to the sommelier asking for preferences and incorporating it into the experience. If they had, we would’ve let them know we dislike Chardonnay and port, but instead we just didn’t drink the pairings. We would’ve asked for alternatives, but again we didn’t see the waiter between courses. We had two people coming to our table, but I’m not really sure what their roles were as they both served food and wine.

We had some yummy dishes and nothing was bad at all, but the overall experience was just fine.
