A bad time at the goodtime hotel. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel. I haven’t been to Miami in 10 years and was excited to return and stay at this hotel known for its fun design.  I arrived to Miami late and I had called the hotel to inform them of this, upon my arrival I was told the hotel was sold out and they had a room available for me at another hotel. I had prepaid the hotel through my credit card (capitol one venture x). I asked to speak to a manager but no one was available and basically there was nothing that they could do, except for me to return the next day to check in for the following night (it was only a 2 night stay). The next day I had to arrange transport myself to return back to check in again and the lady at the front desk was not very helpful and I had to ask what they could do for inconveniencing me. She finally waived the resort fee (she was like both days- which makes no sense as I was only staying one day because the other hotel they put me at charged me a resort fee). Anyways long story short the customer service is terrible. The room is small, which I can deal with but walls are very thin and my neighbor was blasting music at midnight. Overall you can stay at much nicer places for a better experience I’m sure. The pool is cute but it’s not THAT cute. Miami has many hotels with great design and next time will be going somewhere the customer service is just as cute as the design.

Service was great. Greeted us with glass of champagne when arrived. Salt water outdoor vegas style pool with a full bar. Rooms were home bedroom style artdeco. Complimentary water in room. Put door and indoor gym. Very affordable. Purchased through priceline at only $86 for the night. A street away from beach. You gey complimentary bikes, beach chairs at the beach and towels. Definitely booking again!

A decent hotel option, but I would not stay again. Queen rooms do not have queen beds… They are actually full beds pushed up against the wall. The rooms themselves are pretty uncomfortable and small. The beds are not comfortable, very firm. While the rooms have a mini fridge, they do not have a coffee maker nor hot water kettle. There’s no hot water… It just gets warm, which made Showers not the best. All the bath products smell like sugary, sweet strawberries, which is not for everyone lol.

The location is pretty good and a very short walk to the beach and Ocean Drive. And you can get to the more residential area of South Beach for less touristy restaurants.

Staff were pretty decent. Quite friendly, but could not offer greater concierge support, like recommending a vegetarian, friendly restaurant nearby.

Regarding the resort fee… The value is totally there! I highly recommend people take advantage of all the amenities they offer. Our favorite part of this hotel stay was getting free beach beds right by the ocean. The beach staff are so friendly and wonderful! Those beds are incredibly costly to the public, so getting them included in the   Amenity fee is good value. We honestly saved money by using their complementary beds and paying the resort fee each day… Rather than just showing up at the beach and having to pay a fortune.

Lastly, we found the strawberry moon restaurant incredibly underwhelming and overpriced. I would avoid it. Very terrible for vegetarians, but also incredibly pricey for the value and service you get. Go there for cocktails, but not for food.

Overall, it’s an OK option… But I won’t stay here again. I’d rather try something new.

Goodtime Tribute Potrfolio, SouthBeach:
I canceled my second night there when the coincierge could not find a can of soda — Coke/ Pepsi / Diet Coke.

Concierge:  “There are Red Bulls and Diet Red Bulls in the room refrigerator “

Me: “I’m not 20 years old.”

Concierge: “We’re not a full-service hotel. You can walk to CVS diwn the street and buy a Coke.”

So I canceled the reservation and walked past spilled French Fries in the lobby and police officers escorting a distraught guest to her room (who knows what happened?— it’s South Beach) then down the street bought a soda from CvS. Then I  sat on their dirty outdoor lawn furniture to read my book as there is no lobby in the foyer.

And these thoughts entered my mind:
—A soda is full service? Even gas stations have Cokes. I even bought a Pepsi from an indigenous village in the middle of the Peruvian rainforest before .

—Why did someone go through all the trouble of decorating rooms with hipster analog phones in light green polished tint and matching refrigerator tint, but didn’t bother to think of that a guest might be thirsty and want a can of soda?

Not worth more than one night if you are past age 20. The pool and breakfast area are pretty and lively, the staff there is friendly, but the hipster-styled rooms are small and the hotel layout is bad and lacking in basics—  basics like a coke and a place to sit. Add to that the vagaries and slight seediness of the area, and … there are better hotels in Miami Beach.

In the end: No coke / No stay .

And as a Titanium Marriott member who has stayed in everything from Fairfields to luxury hotels in Rome, this has to be my most uncomfortable Marriott stay ever. I felt safer, more comfortable, and more secure at Marriotts in Bogota, Colombia and Istanbul, Turkey. Both of which had cokes by the way.

I'm an Ambassador Elite Marriott member and a Lifetime Platinum member as well. I open with this because I am a big fan of Marriott and 95% of my travel is only at a Marriott property.

The aesthetics at this hotel are unique, a boutique feel and interesting in design elements. I understand that famous individual contributed to the design elements and I’ll say the library on the property is uniquely interesting and very detailed in design. Not my style but it is worth paying attention to.

The staff was great. Ken checked me in and he was informative in sharing all the details of the hotel and the surrounding area. Great personality and very welcoming to every guest and should be commended at performing his job so well. I also overheard other staff welcoming and assisting staff and they were wonderful. Hotel staff helping keep the rooms fresh were also very friendly and helpful.

The location is close to many restaurants, a short walk to the beach and lots of good shopping in the area. Found some great deals and at fair prices at local shops so I’m a big fan of shopping local!

I will say I was disappointed at the lack of disclosure, before I arrived, of the exceptionally small size of the rooms at this property. The rooms are described as "intimate" on the website and no where on the website or any communication is the room identified as less than 100 square feet. I can only assume the design was to reflect a “hostel” and not a “hotel” sized room. There should have been some clear disclosure to set expectations and help guests make an informed decision. That was not the case for me.

I’ve been in rooms that have felt "intimate" and had space to open my suitcase without blocking my access to the restroom. Rooms are so small there isn't room to hang your clothes if there are two of you in the room. I visited over Valentine's weekend paying over $1,700 for three nights in a room that was not comfortable to just sit in. There wasn't a chair but a bench under the TV on the wall where my head hit when sitting to put on my shoe which was about 18” from the edge of the bed.

Bottom line is that if this is your style of hotel in the Marriott portfolio it is wonderful. If you want some space and the hotel, in the Tribute portfolio, isn’t informing you of some of the unique differences it is blindsiding to walk in to. I like a space begin enough to unpack my suitcase and sit in a chair.

I won’t be back but I will always stay at a Marriott property!
