First time in Chicago and was very pleased with The Gwen.  Location was fabulous and love a lady that worked there in housekeeping, Shelia.  So sweet and polite.  I asked her where I could get some water and she went out of her way to go get me 2 bottles and brought them back to my room.     The nicest, most professional, courtesy worker.  The hotel is very lucky to have her.  I was very thankful!  God bless her!  I was in room 527.     Highly recommend the hotel and will stay here again.

Wonderful hotel! Comfy beds. Great staff. Bartenders in the lobby are so helpful and make such great cocktails! We stay here often for staycations, even though we live in Chicago. Highly recommend!

The location is impeccable. Right in the heart of the city, there is so much to do and see within just a few steps. Everything is easily accessible from the hotel. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well appointed. Despite the excellent location, and amazing rooms, the staff is still the highlight. From the moment we arrived, their team was attentive and incredibly kind ensuring our every need was met. The valet team, the front desk, housekeeping, and waitstaff team were some of the absolute best I have ever personally encountered. The value of knowing everything you need will be taken care of is beyond compare. 100% reccomend The Gwen.

Please beware of the $25 food credit promotion, it's very misleading. We spent 2 nights and ate once a day at the restaurant. Upon check out we were given the $25 credit but there was a $25 destination tacked on so while it seems like you are getting food deal it's being wiped by the added fee. Had I known, I wouldn't have eaten at the restaurant, there are tons of places to eat for the same price and possibly better quality. It's very misleading and encourages use of the restaurant by thinking and budgeting your meal on this food credit. If we had known of this added fee we would have then added a food charge so beware of this. Service was great, room was spacious but sink didn't drain well, ac wasn't able to be adjusted. Small things like tub drain being extremely loud and small wall paper peeling was noticeable but didn't take away from the spacious room feel. Location is top notch. If you are looking for a place connected to shopping there probably isn't a better location but ask for all added fees before deciding to take advantage of any promotions offer. Lastly, I am not sure this hotel is luxury, I think that is a bit of a stretch. It's nice but not luxurious by any means. If you want luxury look elsewhere.

Decided to stay for at the Gwen due to having an event close by. The front desk was not friendly at all. When I asked to have a new key made since my fiancé checked in before me, it felt like I was a bother. Once I entered the room the first thing I loved was the bathroom afterward the room was horrible. No view and the windows had black tape all around (Room 1105) and the TV took a while to turn on. The only good impression that left the hotel for me was the Room Service (I forgot his name, it started with an E) was beyond kind and thoughtful and the bellman Jodi or Jordy. Asked me if I needed anything before I departed and asked how my stay was. It’s always the small interactions that matter and they both made it right at the end of my stay.
