A solid trip across a variety of Filipino dishes served by a top notch crew but left unfulfilled.

A shout out to the front of house, they did an excellent job with service, explaining each dish well and making sure we had what we need.

Of the 10 dishes (one course was counted as 3), I thought 7/10 was good, which is great! The 3 lacking were the fish which was not well seasoned, one of the soup was too sour, and the vegetable dish was meh. All the other dishes was fabulous with the pork dish rising to the top for me. Unfortunately for my favorite dish, it came with 3 tiny pieces of pork served with a ratio of rice that was mismatched.

The venue is narrow and typical of many nyc restaurants albeit a little dark, until end of meal where they turn up the lights to signal the end of the tasting.

I unfortunately in good faith can’t give this restaurant more than 3 stars because I left hungry.  When you’re dropping over two hundred a person, walking out hungry is unacceptable no matter how good the food or service is. I had to go home and eat some ramen to feel in a better spot. I do admit, I may eat more than the average person, but I rarely have this issue of not filling fulfilled when leaving a restaurant. I don’t think it cost the restaurant significantly more to slightly increase portion sizes for patrons, the trade off is worth it.

Overall, I do love what they are doing here and this type of issue can be easily fixed.

If this is my introduction to Filipino food, the bar would be too high. Everything here tastes like heaven and it keeps getting better through each course. The artful presentation, the courteous staff and the heavenly delicious food…🤤🤤🤤I don’t know what makes fine dining or not but for me this is one of the finest dining I’ve ever had: a meal that brings comfort, satisfaction and long lasting joy.

What a wonderful and intimate dining experience. I lived right next door to this place when it was a Filipino cafe, and just had to come try Tadhana after the upgrade. Chef Frances was welcoming and energetic in her explanation of the dining experience, which I thought was very fun. The whole dining experience was fun — each dish was a unique twist on classic Filipino flavors, and a refreshing take on prix fixe fine dining. The shrimp and the duck were some of my top dishes, but my favorite would have to be the halo halo jackfruit ice cream. I wish I could buy a bowl of it.

I see some reviews complaining about how this is not the stereotypical fine dining experience (not located in an expensive hotel/building, not everyone dressed to the nines, etc) but to me, that is the appeal. It's something unique that I have not experienced when I usually go for tasting menus. I love that this feels like a family; it feels like my family spent the entire day to cook me a meal with the finest ingredients. I would definitely come back for the next tasting menu.

Modern Filipino tasting menu. BYOB with no corkage fee. The restaurant will provide an ice bucket and keep your glass topped off. Currently, the meal *as a whole* is not at the one star level yet, but Tadhana has many truly excellent memorable dishes. Plus, the menu’s more interesting than at many places with more polish. Get the tiyula itum supplement if offered.

Many dishes were really delicious. The sinuglaw contrasted rich coconut cream against vinegar and a deeply smoky pork jowl to make an almost perfect bite—layering multiple sources of acidity would’ve taken this to a 10 for me. The bright sinigang and meaty maitake complemented each other as polar opposites. The tiyula itum will be a completely new flavor profile for most folks: savory caramelized coconuts with a SEA spice blend. It was the most delicious dish of the meal and worth the supplement fee. The ensaymada was a buttery pillow with a sticky gooey topping, like marshmallow fluff but not overly sweet.

The main drawback of the meal was the use of salt. Salt level was a bit all over the place. The penoy was barely salted. The chicken wing might’ve needed a brine before being stuffed with the sausage (and perhaps have the fat rendered before grilling as the skin was quite gummy, though the aroma will make anyone salivate). The beurre blanc had enough salt, but the snapper didn’t seem salted well in advance. The duck was too salty even with rice, and certainly inedible without rice.

One minor nitpick is with the penoy dish. It felt like something I can find at any generic French-Japanese tasting menu. I’d love to see it evolve into a fully Filipino dish, especially since it looks to be a mainstay.

The service was attentive and welcoming. It really did enhance the experience. I never needed anything because it’s always provided for.

I do recommend Tadhana. I trust they’ll fix the salt issue. And ultimately, Tadhana has more soul and character than many fine dining spots. They need to enhance the weaker dishes, but the excellent ones make the meal worthwhile. Hopefully they’ll get a star next year.

Pros: Food was delicious and inventive, Chef takes time to introduce herself and the restaurant’s concept and go around and explain her dishes, bar staff were attentive, atmosphere is cool.
Cons: The guy receptionist/server has a personality bordering on being rude, dishes are not served individually but shared, unlike in usual tasting menus or omakase, they serve the dishes in one bowl and doesn’t provide small plates but expect guests to scoop their share from it, it is not only unhygienic and inconvenient but also denies the guests of enjoying the food privately, we’re paying separately incase it is not obvious. Food pacing is slightly fast unlike in the usual tasting menu restaurants where guests can savor and enjoy the food more leisurely.
Hopefully the chef/ owner can improve these issues then maybe it will be much more enjoyable the next time.

Vi hade stora förhoppningar på att komma till Tadhana för maten är verkligen god — smakrik, vackert presenterad, och det påminner mig om hemma 🇵🇭✨. Men det som verkligen förstörde upplevelsen för oss var Servicen, särskilt hur oprofessionell handledaren var. Istället för att hantera saker lugnt och respektfullt, var hon avvisande och saknade den gästfrihet du förväntar dig av en restaurang av denna nivå. 

Jag tror verkligen att Service är lika viktigt som maten. Du kan servera de bästa rätterna i New York, men om sättet du behandlar dina gäster på saknas, överskuggar det allt annat. Tyvärr är det precis vad som hände under vårt besök. 

Det är en besvikelse eftersom kockarna och köksteamet gör något speciellt här – smakerna ger verkligen det filippinska köket liv. Jag hoppas att ledningen uppmärksammar Service sidan också, eftersom Tadhana har så mycket potential att vara en plats som du vill fortsätta att komma tillbaka till... om bara den totala upplevelsen matchade kvaliteten på maten.

Det var min bröllopsdag. Vi informerades om att det är en byob när vi kom dit. Vi fick höra av servern om en närliggande vinbutik, så min partner gick för att hämta en flaska. 
Mindre än 5 minuter berättade den mycket oförskämda hovmästaren att de ska servera. Så jag frågade om vårt bord kunde serveras sist och han vägrade hela tiden. Så jag sa till honom i samma ovänliga ton och dolken ser ut att ”Det är min bröllopsdag och jag kommer att börja med min partner? Wow! Tack för att du skickade in en ändring. 
Kvällen var förstörd. 
Maten var för dyr för sitt resultat och deras personal borde genomgå traning på Le Bernardin, eftersom de alla har ganska bråttom att servera.

Jag var väldigt oimpad av Tadhana. Stämningen var inte särskilt trevligt trots utmärkt sällskap, och valuta för pengarna var mycket låg. Servicen var kaotisk. Kanske inte så förvånande av kockens något kaotiska beteende. 
Hade maten varit fantastisk hade allt kunnat förlåtas, men så var tyvärr inte fallet. Alla kan lägga dyr kaviar på ett ägg, och det kommer att smaka bra. I det här fallet hade jag föredragit ett normalt hårdkokt ägg...

Jag kunde inte göra min bokning på grund av en nödsituation och när jag försökte ringa tillbaka efter att ha missat sitt bekräftelsesamtal, samtalet gick till en röstbrevlåda som inte var inställd. Jag gjorde några andra försök att ringa upp dem utan framgång. De tog ut 370 dollar för avbokningen. Jag tycker att det är helt oacceptabelt att en restaurang som tar ut någon avbokningsavgift, inte låter någon svara i telefon eller har sin röstbrevlåda inställd. 

btw de använde konserverade svar för sina meddelanden och e-post. undvika till varje pris. antingen detta är inte en riktig filippinsk kör restaurang eller de förstår inte gästfrihet.

Kom precis från ett underbart gustatoriskt äventyr på Tadhana. Eftersom jag är född och uppvuxen i Filippinerna vet jag hur filippinsk mat ska smaka. Kocken Frances tog det som var bekant och förhöjde det till en otroligt tillfredsställande upplevelse. Kudos till kocken och till personalen! Mabuhay! ! !
