I drove hours to get here with high expectations, and while it’s worth visiting at least once, there were some ups and downs. It’s a cabin-style BBQ house with a unique vibe.

1. Pricing
The pricing is very reasonable, especially for the All You Can Eat deal, which is currently under $30—a great value for BBQ lovers.

2. The Meat

Brisket: Unfortunately, the butler kept serving us the dry parts of the brisket, which affected the overall experience. It wasn’t as enjoyable as I hoped.

Pork Ribs: The smaller pieces were delicious with a nice glaze, but the larger ones seemed undercooked and overly greasy. The oil even dripped onto my arm as I ate.

Sausage: I’m not usually a sausage fan, but this one was excellent and definitely a highlight.

3. Service
I was hesitant about a BBQ place that isn’t self-serve, but our server was attentive and quick with refills and orders, which made the experience more enjoyable.

4. Location and Parking
The restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. It worked as a small detour on my way from San Antonio, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to get here. On the plus side, there’s plenty of parking available.

Overall
It’s worth trying for the experience and the affordable pricing, but there’s room for improvement in the food quality. If you’re passing by, it’s a decent stop, but I wouldn’t make a long trip just for this.

An absolutely beautiful spot to enjoy some drinks and BBQ. Staff was kind and attentive. The property is beautiful with lots of outdoor seating. We stopped by the winery next door for a drink while waiting for a table which was wonderful. However the food didn’t live up to the same hype. First the brisket was delicious and the sausage a close second. BBQ sauces on point. Everything else fell short - Mac was more like Alfredo, slaw was lackluster, pulled pork was salty with heavy char.

Overall good barbecue, great staff and a lovely spot to hang out. Skip the sides.

My partner and I went on holiday to Austin, Texas and visited Salt Lick BBQ as part of a Brisket and Wine tasting tour. The staff were really friendly and the food was fantastic! Mouthwateringly tasty and fell straight off the bone! I loved the Pork Ribs and Brisket! My partner had the Thurman's choice that gave you a bit of everything, also loved it! The whole scene was fantastic, including the open smokehouse where you could see all the meat being smoked and cooked. Really fantastic experience and would definitely recommend 🥰

Huge space. Massive fire pit on the inside and on the outside. Friendly southern service and mouth-melting BBQ flavours. You can ask for much more.

The brisket is fantastic. The Bison Ribs a pleasant surprise and if you still managed to save some space, the Half/half cobbler is the perfect cherry on the cake.

Came for the food. Was captured by the atmosphere.

We drove three hours specifically to try the barbecue, and I must say, the drive and wait were definitely worth it! We ordered a lot since we were a group of 12, so we got to sample a variety of meat. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the pickled cucumbers paired perfectly with the meal.
However, I wasn’t a fan of the raw onions. I also suggest avoiding the drinks, as they had a chlorine-like aftertaste, including the coke.
Overall, a fantastic barbecue experience, just be cautious with the beverages!
