We came here for dinner at the end of March at a friend’s recommendation, it was simply one of the best meals I’ve had.

Staff was friendly & gracious, the sake recommendations were on point, and every course was delicious (not an easy task for me to feel compelled to write a review on Google - usually really good or really bad). We generally don’t like unagi, yet the way the unagi don was done (crispy on top, tender but also chewy on the bottom) was simply exceptional. The snow crab soup also blew my mind - a lot of restaurants like to talk about balancing of flavors, and Miyake Akira took it to the next level.

We thought about cancelling one of our res in the coming days when we were in Tokyo to dine with them a second time - we didn’t, but wish we did. Thank you for a fantastic experience.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Roppongi! The food & service are excellent and there are only 8 seats (you need a reservation). Why only 4 stars and not 5? Killing an animal for food is needed, but doing so has to occur with the least amount of pain possible. Chopping of the back of a lobster without actually killing it is cruel and unnecessary. Same for the eel, where one could chop off the head instead of starting to simply cut off the meat from a living being. No matter how good the food is, I cannot overlook this fact and this unnecessarily tarnishes the otherwise perfect experience guests will have here.

Easily a top meal experience. From the moment you walk in, you are their honored guest. The chef and staff are gracious, thoughtful, and genuinely appreciative that you chose to eat at their establishment. Though we only dined with them once, the impression is that each meal is unique; a singular permutation based on the season, availability of ingredients, and mood of the chef. Each round was delicious, spectacular in presentation (did you know you can make a miniature butterfly from carrot shavings), and insanely fresh (A live crab was prepared in front of us) - we walked away overly satiated and content. ありがとう、美味しかったです！
