went there during lunch hours cuz i gotta go to some TCM nearby, theres quite a few tables available still and the staff greeted us nicely, we wanted to switch the table and theyre more than happy to help too.

ordered the lunch set (which is so good imo), we had the ducks, pork, beans, soup and a dessert.

owner was extremely friendly when helping us to order.

the duck is VERY VERY tender and gentle, you can literally tear it with just using chopsticks, yeah you heard me right, no jokes at all, the ginger that was braised together has became soften in terms of texture and flavour, if you like ginger, this is your thing for sure. i like the fact that ginger 'hot' ingredient is used to counter the 'coldness' of the duck in chinese terms.

the beans were full of wok hey, and the portion is huge, we almost couldnt finished the whole thing.

pork and soup is also v nice, pork is soft and not too salty together with the muychoy.

soup is well balanced, keeping the taste of the ingredients without overpowering it with too many things and salt.

one thing the owner asked that left quite an impression was do we want the dessert to be served together or later once the main meal was finished, this is where a CHINESE restaurant is transcendent where they give you the feeling of eating a 7 course dinner.

i bought some kuihs, it is ngam ngam sweet so dont worry even if youre cutting your calorie intake.

i really wished i have tried their otak otak cuz it looks so good but my tummy is definitely out of capacity, 10/10 will return again

I had the pleasure of visiting Teo Chew Lao Er today, and it was a delightful culinary experience. The food was exceptionally tasty, with the ru rou pork stealing the show—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned.

Recently recognized in the Michelin Guide 2024, this restaurant truly lives up to its reputation. Despite its high-quality offerings, the prices are incredibly affordable, making it accessible to everyone. A must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Teo Chew cuisine at great value!

Booking is essential for dining at Teochew Lao Er as the restaurant is always packed. We came here for dinner on Saturday, and parking was limited. After recommendation from the helpful staff, we ordered crabs, duck feet, kuey chap, otak-otak, and porridge. We savoured each dish; the crabs were fresh and well-seasoned. It does live up to the Michelin award.

Must try - Teochew kueh, eight treasure duck, the seafood porridge and the chai Poh omelette with oysters. Top it off with their dessert - orh ni. It’s a beautiful meal !

I was looking for a teochew restaurant in Kuala Lumpur and found this restaurant on social media. We came for late lunch around 2pm plus and we were seated immediately as there wasn’t a crowd since it was past peak lunch hours. Very simply decorated restaurant but I could sense history in it. They had many old school traditional teochew snacks and kuays for sale at the entrance to the restaurant. I ordered the kuay chup and missus had the traditional teochew fish porridge. I would say, it was really the old traditional taste and the taste reminded me of the food I had when I was much younger in singapore. As a teochew myself, the fish porridge was also similar to what my mother would cook. As a teochew, I definitely needed to order the yam paste dessert. It was really good with orange peel and preserved winter melon bits mixed with the yam paste which was something that I didn’t had here in Singapore. But it was overall a good experience. Staff was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable in my opinion.
