Disclaimer: We had a booking for Osteria but there is no option to leave a review specifically for it.

It’s a unique location with unique approach to food and is certainly a nice balance of upscale / sustainable / tasty.

The only real pitfall was that the dining area for the Osteria is mostly a temporary structure and is very cold in the winter despite the heating.

The food was interesting and good although some of the ingredients made it more of a fusion cuisine rather than Italian. It was still exciting and good.

The risotto was perfectly made and perhaps was a touch too smoky for the rest of the ingredients to shine through.

The fish for two was wonderful and perfectly executed with a mix of sides with quince, celery root, radicchio and spinach pastry.

The cake for desert was like a perfect grandma cake with excellent creamy rich ice cream. A proper de la Nonna taken to perfection.

The service was courteous and good. I’m sure in spring and summer (as long as you don’t mind the heat), you can be perfectly comfortable in this beautiful Osteria.

Michelin star sophisticated experience. You can book for an evening dinner and they will pick you up from San Marco in Venice with their own boat and bring you back after dinner. Do not expect traditional Italian meals.

I read some reviews of people complaining so we almost didn’t go but I’m glad that we did. I like the idea of sustainable food and farm to table. If you are looking for typical pasta/meat dishes this place isn’t for you.
Actually there’s no meat at all. We tried 7 course menu and most dishes were well balanced and delicately flavored. It’s a medley of small dishes but we were full by the end. The service was impeccable. The wine by the glass could be more diverse. Two of the dishes tortellini and strawberry tempeh were underwhelming but the rest were fantastic.

We had the 10 courses dinner with wine pairing, and although the service and plating were Michelin grade, but the taste of most of the dishes were difficult to understand.  I think most of the ingredients (herbs and vegetables) were from your garden and most of greens were too bitter to our taste and just too 'special'  to be enjoyable.  We didn't have a good time for the stomach the next day.
I also did not find the wine matching enjoyable because there were 10 glasses with 10 dishes and just too overwhelming and the quality of those organic wines would be not as good if you just serve 5 better quality ones.

We came on an off-season package deal and I’m so glad we decided to get out of Venice-proper for a night. The staff was amazing at both the hotel and the osteria, the room was impeccable, and the food was imaginative and delicious… and the wine is incomparable and one of a kind. My partner has several food allergies and they were able to tailor our four-course tasting menu to them, which is impressive since he can’t have shellfish and they mainly do seafood! We can’t wait to return.
