We were thrilled with our experience and loved our meal.  We had two choices to make besides what we wanted to drink and we love this concept.  It means the kitchen (in this case the one chef) can do a few things exceptionally well without unnecessary distraction. The place seats 18 and filled up quickly.  We were provided with two delicious amuses bouches before the first course.  We opted not to do the cheese course (we’ve been traveling and eating out a lot) and ordered one of each of the options (fish or veal). Dessert was fruit based which as a non-chocolate person made me very happy.  You can’t go wrong dining here.

We visited Épicentre in Bordeaux with high expectations, given its stellar reputation. However, our experience was nothing short of a major disappointment. Opting for the Menu Soir priced at €57, we anticipated a memorable culinary journey but were left deeply dissatisfied.

The meal started off on a promising note with the starter. It was decent, albeit not outstanding, but enjoyable enough to raise our hopes for the courses to follow. Unfortunately, this initial optimism was quickly shattered.

For the main course, we chose the beef option. What arrived on our plates was nothing short of appalling. The steak consisted of more than 50-60% fat, with the remaining meat portion completely raw. This was not the rare or medium-rare that one might expect; it was essentially uncooked.

When we addressed our concerns with the waiter, his response was dismissive and condescending. He insisted that the dish was ribeye steak and was supposed to contain that much fat, suggesting that we simply didn’t understand what a ribeye was. As for the raw meat, he claimed it was the chef’s deliberate choice to serve it in that manner and that in France, it’s not customary to ask how the customer wants their steak cooked. Even more frustrating was that the waiter did not accept our complaint about the meat quality. Instead of offering to bring another portion of steak, he continued to argue and insisted that it was supposed to be served that way. The only alternative he suggested was bringing a portion of fish, which was not what we wanted or expected.

We eventually accepted the fish dish, which was good, but it could not save the evening, which had already been ruined by the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the waiter and the poor quality of the beef.

Overall, our experience at Épicentre was extremely disappointing. The service was unresponsive and patronizing, and the quality of the food did not match the high price point or the restaurant’s reputation. It was, without a doubt, the WORST dining experience of our 10-day trip in France. We cannot recommend Épicentre and will certainly not be returning.

Wow, an amazing find in Bordeaux! A small and informal place but everything was sublime. It’s a must if you have an appreciation for creative French cuisine.

We were so lucky to get a table here without reservation, it was Saturday evening and we just arrived to Bordeaux. Restaurant is small and very cosy, it was serving fixed menu that evening. We liked everything we tried, food was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented pared with good vine. Best words for chef and waiter professional yet friendly. Highly recommended.

Overall a Very Nice and tasty experience. The waiter and the chef are welcoming and attentive to the customers. The place feels cosy and the choice of stuffing it with thousands of small tables definitely pays and creates a relaxed and relaxed enjoyable environment. The presentation of the food was interesting and eye catching. I recommend it.
